Any former Gen1 RDX owners with Gen2?

Hi all
I still have my 2008 RDX which I bought new. It's been a great car and basically problem-free except for the A/C issue which Acura covered under the special extended warranty.
I've test driven the Gen 2 a couple of times and even had a 2016 for a day as a loaner and of course read many reviews.
I've been waffling about buying a 2017 Advance/Elite. I really like it but wonder if I'd miss the spunkiness of my 2008.
Wondered if there were any others on the forum who had owned both models? Great to get your 2 cents.

I'm an 08 Tech owner with +135,000 miles on her. I know my 08 will last me until the 3rd Gen RDX hits the road in 12-24 months. I can then make a decision of going for a 2nd Gen still on the lot, go for a all new 3rd Gen, or just jump ship altogether.

If I had to upgrade before then, I would consider a MDX tech or adv with sh-awd as the closest SUV near the 07-12 RDX all weather/year round driving dynamics.

We had a 2011, and it was a fun ride. It was my Wife's daily driver. What we did not like about it was the awful feeling steering wheel, poor gas mileage and noisy engine. It was problem free for the 65,000 miles we had it. That said, the 13 plus RDX (we have a 14 Tech and 17 Elite) is a completely different animal. Quiet, smooth power, better looking, many better features. Don't miss the 11 one bit.

Life is so subjective isn't it? I LOVE the steering wheel in the 1G and think it is better looking too. Reminds more of the steering wheel in my S2000, with the larger bolsters.

As my user name states, I was a 2008 RDX owner as well. Bought new in June 2008 and traded it in on my current 2016 RDX Advance this past March. Almost 8 years with my 1st gen. I really loved that car and miss it dearly. Certain things like SH-AWD, sports car like handling and ride (some hated it I loved it), and the 2.3 liter turbo was way ahead of its time. That engine was a sleeper. They stated 240 H.P. but I think they put that number on it for insurance purposes. I’ve seen that engine dyno tested and it put out well more than 240 H.P. The 1st gen RDX was fast and a blast to drive. Reliability was rock solid. Only service issue I had in 8 years was a malfunctioning passenger side window switch. No big deal. With that said, the car started to become dated and show it’s age.

The 2016 Advance is superior in many ways and much more grown up. For that, I do appreciate what my new ride has vs. my 2008. If they had carried over the SH-AWD to the current RDX it would downright be near perfect.

Liked the 2008, but...

The 2008 AWD was a great car. I really liked the handling, the sure footed drive, and the great AWD system. But the ride, cabin noise, and gas mileage sent me in other directions. I now have the 2016 Advance AWD and could not be more pleased. The power train, smooth transmission, steady but not angry ride, very quiet cabin, great sound system, loads of safety features, decent mpg, etc. for me, Acura nailed it with the current version of the RDX. I have no desire to head to greener (and more expensive) pastures. The only thing that could get my attention might be the next generation RDX.

Thanks for all the great feedback. Saw a freshly washed white Elite yesterday and have to say it's a good looking vehicle. I'm not won over by the new grill on the MDX so I'm not sure if the 2018 RDX would have same appeal as the 2017.
