AcuraLink Next Generation

Thinking about picking up a new 2016 RDX. I know there are none out there as of yet but was wondering as to how the AcuraLink Next Generation gets updated if necessary? This weekend I updated the SYNC system in my Ford Super Duty and it was a bit of a hassle. Download to computer, transfer to thumb drive, install in truck. I know new systems will use WiFi, doubt the AcuraLink is there as of yet. Any info is helpful.

Also;

How was the first Generation Acuralink? as it implemented well.

Thank you

Current RDX owners may be able to tell you about their experience with Acuralink Gen 1. But you might want to ask 3G MDX, RLX or TLX owners since they have Gen 2.

There is also an Acuralink FAQ that might help....

Welcome to the forums.

I deleted your threads in three other forums since your question is specific to the RDX Forum and you have already received a reply here.

We would rather you only post one thread for a particular topic.

It was suggested I post to the other forums because the current RDX does not have Generation 2 and hence cannot answer my request. Is it ok if I post again to the MDX forum only?

Thank you

I wasn't aware of that. I opened the MDX thread. If you don't get enough replies there send me a PM and I can open the other 2 threads.

FYI, Acuralink gen 1 (which is supposedly present in the 2013 -15 RDX) is total piece of crap. It has never worked for me (not even once - for demonstration) and so far I've never found anyone for whom it has worked.

I had acuralink gen 1 in my 2014 rdx tech and it sucked (no functions)

In our 2015 mdx tech its pretty cool feature wish but very slow

You can ping the car and get status of car ( doors unlocked tire pressure, gas and oil levels) then you can lock the car from app.
With connect level you get navi via bing that you can search a location on app and send to car so when u get in the truck it pops up on screen and u just say 'ok add' and it will start routing.

If you get into an accident it will call 911 if they cant speak to you etcetc

Also if you DO sign up you get 90 day free trial of premium (so you get conceirge service) but its cheaper to sign a 3 year agreement on any level you select and if you hate it cancel and jts prorated so if you lease or buy 3 yr is the way to go .

Just keep in mind its VERY VERY slow to connect to the car even if you have to unlock the doors on app its quicker to go in the house find the keys, take a dump and come back outside lol
