2016 RDX Custom Interior Trims / Dash kits

Besides the OEM Wood trim you can get, has anyone else tried wrapping or buying pre cut trims for their interior?

The dull plastic parts leave a lot to be desired, especially when they start scratching up. Ebay has some sellers that post templates of their stuff, but no actual installed photos. Anyone know a good site or have done anything to your interiors to spice it up?

Every glue-on piece I've ever seen looks like a glue-on piece. All the kits go way overboard in the amount of pieces.

The only way to do it so it looks OE is to remove the pieces and get them refinished. You can get them dipped or painted. I re-did some interior bits on my GTI several years back using wood veneer but that only really worked on reasonably flat pieces.

I might just end up removing the pieces and wrapping them myself with carbon fiber look 3M. A few pieces here and there will add some life to the trim. Now to figure out how to remove the trim pieces.....

Try to check out Remin and B&I also. They offer dash kits for the year/model of your RDX.

I've contacted both websites and they don't have any pictures of their products install. It's crazy. You have to buy on faith. lol

I saw a very nice wood-grain type look at Goodson Acura in Dallas on a RDX. It was a dealer added option and they had about 6 to 8 different types of trim you could get. I was just thinking yesterday I should have taken a picture of it. I'll probably go back today and get a picture of it. I'm thinking of buying a RDX but I will only get it with that trim updated. Also, they had this RDX in the showroom and it always had people in it because it was so eye catching. It really added a more upscale look to it. All the available trims were not wood-like either some were like the trim in my 2008 TL were it is darker but will look really good with an Ebony interior. Maybe you can call Goodson and find out what company they use or how it is done.

If you could post pictures, that would be awesome. There are no pictures of the actual trims installed in the new RDX. They have samples of the material and a picture of a different car with the kit. It's so annoying.

This is not the only color either. There are different color wood looks, solid black, black and grey mixture, and brownish gray mixture.

oh nice. It looks like the B&I 3D dash kit since it follows the curves of the dash. Thank you for posting pictures. I'm not so sure about the wood type but the install looks cleaner than the OEM dash trim.

It is not a dash kit though it is hydrographics.

That looks too good. Did you find out what company they use and what is the price the dealer charges? How is it different than the OEM wood trim kit?

It is not real wood it is a wood-like look but they have other looks too not just wood like looks. For example, you can get solid black and other combinations like I mentioned above. The company the dealer actually uses is a hydrographics company. I am assuming any hydrographics company could do it.

If I remember correctly, the OEM piece above the glove box is too small which looks off to me.It doesn't cover the whole drab silver area. The pic below doesn't show the silver trim but cover like half the silver trim..

I like Acura Girl's wood grain look but I feel it's a bit too much with the console and door pulls.
I do like the console, steering wheel and door switch trim look of the OEM kit.

I received some Sheerwood trim to to test out. It was for the 2013 model so the center dash doesn't fit, but everything else does. I did a dry test fit. Check it out.
This looks the best. It's not all aligned yet

Driver side door

Passenger side

Rear Door

Vents. I might not add these on

Vent. Not feeling the vents too much.

What camera do you use? Your pictures look REALLY good. I especially like the pic of center console area. It looks so professional and the leather looks so rich and supple

I agree with that the pictures are nice. I think it has more to do with the lens and software tweaking done by professionals. I'm guessing that he has good photography skills.

Thank you. It's actually just my phone camera on the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and there was no editing done. From camera straight to forum. It's amazing what these phones can do now.

Shit! That makes my IPhone 5S camera look like a cheap chinese knockoff. Clearly they were good enough to fool comfy and myself.

Your 5S IS a Chinese knockoff - just not cheap. Go buy an Android.

Ha ha. Now I'm really interested in the chrome vent surrounds as I think it gives a classy look to the dash. Are the OEM vents chrome or brushed aluminum (or painted plastic)?

Haha good point and true! I have been faithful to apple for 10 years now, iphone 1, 3, 3gs, 4s, and now 5s. But I am absolutely sick and tired of Ios and all the bugs. I usually keep my phone for 1-3 years. So this coming november on my bday I am going for an android. Though in all honesty, my phone functions perfectly well (most of the time). So might even wait till next year.

I don't see any posts saying she actually purchased an RDX.

I'm wondering if she works there. I bought a CPO TSX at Goodson before the management change, awesome folks at that time. Than an RDX after the management change. Not going there again, especially after all the hard upsells on service.

My direction has turned westerly in the DFW area for purchase ('17 RDX Advance) and oil changes.

I've ordered a sample of this vinyl wrap from metro styling. It is supposed to look and feel like natural wood. I'm a fan of the matte finish.
