I did as well. I went the cheap route and everything works.

You need about a 15mm spacer to clear the spokes.

Wink

This just in:
RL calipers might have saved my life yesterday!

Alright I might be over exaggerating, certainly saved my front end some damage. But really I almost rear-ended someone yesterday. They obviously weren't paying attention to the person turning in front of them. Cruising along at like 25-30 on a local road. I look away for a split second (at my phone) I look back up and no less than 10-15 feet in front of me two cars are stopped.

The Audi in front is in a panic stop with the trunk in the air from hard braking just coming down. I jammed on the breaks hard, I mean this is the hardest I ever stopped in 4 months with these breaks. The tires even chirped, I went chest first into the steering wheel. I still had to yank the wheel into the next lane looking at my rear-view hoping there wasn't a car there. I mean it was a blind turn I had no time to check. I had just enough time ahead of a fedex truck to make it!!! Crazy,... closest call in a long time.

I can't say for sure but stock calipers might not have given me enough bite to allow me to swerve, or swerve without losing control.

if you think upgrading your brakes is worth it.

Thats exactly what ABS is designed to do: applies your brakes so that you get maximum stopping distance while maintaining the ability to turn. This result is from the ABS system, not the brakes entirely. But I'm sure that they did help decrease your stopping distance.

New member here...been running them on my 7.5th gen Accord sedan since last year and diff. is nite and day compared to the stock calipers. I bought the 05 RL calipers with about 60,000 miles on them and will probably rebuild them next year.

Does anyone know if as aznboi noted above: will 15mm spacers allow 03 cls wheels to clear the rl calipers (the same as 01-03 tls wheels)? The wheels arn't going to stick out horribly and look hideous right? Or should I just go 3rd gen TL wheels

15mm should clear based on my measurements but it really depends on the spokes too.

55-15 would be a 40 offset but the 3G TL wheels are +45 offset and they clear.

Thanks for picture but what im looking for is spoke clearance. If someone can post spoke clearance measurements i will greatly appreciate it. Based on that measurements i will be able to see if my servos will clear rl calipers

I took the TL wheels off my car last week. If you know someone with a 3rd gen TL 6MT, put one of your servos on their car. If they clear, they should clear the RL calipers. But I have a feeling they wont.

Go back a couple pages, I gave the approximate mm clearance from the rotor to the top of the caliper. I think its like 20 or 30mm if I remember but I would go back to be sure. But something with at least +40mm and no lip should clear unless its the 3G TL wheels, those are +45mm

I hate that I'll have to use the TL wheels. I REALLY don't like them at all but I'm going to need something since these don't sound like they'll fit with the 03 CL's even with spacers. And are those the ONLY options? The A-spec wheels won't fit or something from somewhere else? I'm talking inexpensive and easy to pick up. The TL's are going to be my winter wheels anyway. I have my eyeballs set on something more..."aesthetically pleasing"...for the rest of the season.

Also, are the EBC rotors the only option? They're nice but I want crossed drilled (or dimpled) and slotted.

A-specs should work as well since they are factory wheels for the TL. I have tried several wheels that fit without spacers. I have a set in my garage with 35mm offset with clears the BBK and I'm currently running a set of RX-8 wheels that are +50 offset with 15mm spacers. I found out that wheels without a lip is a must for clear the BBK. I think the general rule is that it has to be below +45 offset with no lip.

As far as rotor options. I just ordered a set of 350z brembo sized blanks. It was a no name brand from advanced auto parts. Basically anything that fits 350z brembo option will work.

As long as the rotors are from a 350Z w/Brembos, you can use them.

As long as the wheels clear the stock Brembos on the 04-06 TL 6MT or 07-08 TL-S, they will clear these brakes.

I've been gone for awhile and have forgotten a lot of information that I barely knew. What wheels do you/did you have that fit without issues? Remember...another key thing for me is CHEAP and fits. I've got the nice ones that fit covered and barring those cease to exist or a set of Volk GT-S or GT-V's pop up, I'm just looking for some junk to throw on there when they're not on.

If your looking for junk or cheap then the 3G wheels. I found a set with tires for a couple hundred bucks. What I have are a set of aftermarket wheels that will more then likely cost more then the 3G wheels. You can also try finding a set of wheels that are 40+ offset or lower without a lip, they could fit too.

Awww yeah! TWITA. Hahaha. I should say "junk" with quotes. Something that I don't care about scratching. I don't want bent crap that will wobble right off the car. LOL Not THAT kinda junk!

In the process of getting my rl calipers powdercoated now, and a few things came to mind.. are you guys with rl brakes noticing you have to push down farther to really start stopping? Back to throwing off the braking bias from a while back in this thread, is the cl master the same as the rl master cylinder? Just wondering because I was worried the stock cl master or stock proportioning valve wasn't designed with the purpose of pushing 4 pistons. Now I realize this goes for most all BBK kits available for our cars, but was just wondering...

Well I'm simply saying that the 3G TL wheels seem to fit the bill. They are pretty inexpensive. Just search on craigslist. And I bet you don't care about getting those scratched.

Yes, I noticed that too, even after bleeding the brakes (make sure you do that, you can get a lot of bubbles trapped in those pistons). I think it is the fact that the 4 pistons creates more volume so the pedal is softer. I think SS brake lines are in order to fix it. (I'm ordering a set soon).

I highly doubt the CL and RL share a master cylinder.

Just getting them done by a buddy locally..

Azn^^^ I don't think SS lines are going to fix the issue to the point i'd be satisfied

Anyone know the answer to any of the concerns above?

I didn't notice that. I also replaced brake line w/ss line at the same time when i installed RL calipers. Maybe that's why.

I got my calipers powdercoated from this guy. He is pretty good and cool guy.

Looks VERY good. Thanks for the link.

When you say you "didn't notice that" are you saying you didn't notice any changes for the worse in the braking performance? Trying to clarify.

The pedal will be slightly softer with the RL calipers since you now have to move a lot more fluid for the four pistons. It shouldn't be very soft though.

Yea, so thats why properly bleeding the brakes and SS lines are probably the best we can do at the point.

To those with SS lines, did you replace all 4 or just the front 2? I don't even know if they sell just 2 SS lines.

Anyone know how to get that glue looking yellowish color off the word "ACURA" on caliper? (peeling off already) I try using PB glue remover with no lucky.

I'm thinking of trying quick like sanding. Would anyone have better suggestion?
