My cls vs a bone stock 08 tls

So I did the engine oil and 4 transmission fluid drains (2 on 2 separate days on my brothers newly acquired 08tl-s) drove it Inbetween each change as well to get the oil circulating and each time I did the drain the metal on the drain bolt got significantly less each time. The last change there was basically nothing on it. Trans shifts even better than it did now. I did the engine oil too with mobile 1 oil and filter fwiw

Anyways I took his car for a boot and long story short. Much more tq but maybe less hp

I did the ol 0-60 and it's much harder to get any traction in first, but his tires ae originals from 07 lol so that don't help. But top end I can feel its not as happy as my car. I got in my car right after and went to the same spot and did the same thing. And mine starts better and hauls harder up top.

I thought it would have more pull top end.

So we are going to race tonight or tomorrow. But after driving it full out I am more confident that I should win in a drag.

But daily driving the tls feels more balzy hands down. I think the race is going to be interesting?.

Predictions anyone... Anyone

he is stock? the 3.5 should feel more torquey.

should be a close race. low end, him. top end, you. I think you'll edge him.

I'll guess his 60 foot will be a lil better if both of you launch good and have good reaction times , but your Top End numbers will be better.

you might trap like 5 mph better?

whaT!?!?! no way.
with these cars its very hard to pick up speed.
both cars are good for mid to low 14's with trap speeds of 93-96mph.

*edit
A good driver can trap 98mph for either car.

p.s. dont sleep on the 6speed version of the base or the type-s TL's.

when you're busy hitting that dreaded 4th gear wall, the six speed TL's (base or type-s, just had to reiterate that) will still be pulling.

Racers him. Spanked him. 4-5 car lengths b4 1/4 mile. He needs mods and some time behind the wheel to get better at launching

he's automatic? so am I skip .... so is kinda even

car is not exactly slow as its faster than the cls stock easily.

whoever was driving the tls sucked balz in that video. he got over 15 in one of those passes so clearly something aint right.

besides im not comparing a 6 speed properly geared transmission to the 5 speed auto. im comparing auto vs auto

BUT

fwiw i have beaten a cl6 with ct headers, muffler and intake in my auto cl before doing the muffler or high flow cat and i beat him by just a car length from 60-150 km/h... little highway rip.

so the 6 speed aint all its made out to be, until u get to 105 mph then its just game over. but i dont car to go those speeds.

at the current moment, I dont plan to tune.
i am hoping the stock ecu calibrates its self enough for the extra air flow.

there is an adequate solution for me tho.
i need to swap to the 07-08 type-s ECU + Hondata + Harness

this will give me the ability to tune.
However; it's a little expensive at the moment.

and I havent even got my ride started up yet.
I'm "sick" today. I stayed home from the office and took tomorrow off.

I am hoping for a weekend start up!

+1 but I think they won't be going much pass 100 on a run though...

a TL 6MT can hang with a auto TL-S... it's only 28hp + 150lbs so the difference isn't that great...

Three years ago my CLs was trapping 99 mph. With intake headers plenums underdrive pulley. So it should just be over 100 now. But I will never kno cause I'm not going back to the strip with my car. It kills the autotragic Trans
