Gas to start. Burn smell.
Hey guys.
So this problem started 2 days ago.
It had been starting fine all winter until it hit -25ish. It would start and die right away. I gave it some gas it would stay on so long as my foot stayed on the gas and if i let go it would turn off. Eventually after keeping my foot on the gas for 10 seconds after starting it would stay under its own power.
After letting it warm up I came back and the check engine light and vsa light were on. I drove it for about 20 minutes and it drives perfectly fine no issues. Got home turned it off and let it sit for 5 mins and it started up perfectly normal still warm. Vsa light gone but check engine still on.
Today it was much harder to get going and sounded weird. Like more of a chug to it once it turned over. Mind you it is -35 with the windchill tonight. Had to gas it for 15 seconds to keep it going. And there was a significant burn smell to it. I'm gonna go have the check engine code checked today but I was wondering if anyone has had a similar issue? Or has any ideas. The fact that it's smelled burnt today and check engine is making me think it's more than just the fact that it's so cold.
Thanks.

for whatever its worth.... i only had one time my car didn't really wanna keep idling and that was at -22 reading on the car. when car started it sounded horendous. i immediately turned car off, plugged in block heater and i also poped the hood and dropp a space heater on the motor with a sleeping bag. 30 mins later i tried it again and what do you know... started right up like the other 20000 times.
so its likely the cold
so its likely the cold
