It Finally Happened My 2001 CL-S Transmission Failing 146K! I NEED YOUR HELP
Ok guys so basically my tranny just started failing probably in its first stages.
It started off with a loud crank noise when I would put it into park.
Then, switching into gears would take couple seconds to engage.
Now, the car hesitates and a lot of slipping while driving.
All this started 2 weeks ago and I haven't been driving the car much since semester is over. I did drain 3 qts dw-1 but still nothing.
So basically I just want to know what's the best possible method to prolong the life for another 15k? (If possible) Would driving it in sport mode (manual shifting) help at all?
Lastly, do you guys think its worth rebuilding it? How much would it cost? Or should I try to sell and buy something else?
It really sucks because I meticulously took care of the car but still the worst has occurred. I even had brand new rotors, brakes and spark plugs ready to install in the summer.

go to the TL side and look into the accord tranny swap. If you decide to fix it, don't put in another shitty trans. You'll have to do some cost benefit. Selling it with a broken trans you'll get nothing for it. Then you have to buy a new (used) car. Or you could put in $2,000 and get a realible trans. (i'm ballparking that number).
If your trans is dying, there's no way you'll be driving it for long. Good luck with everything.

I got an 07 accord v6 transmission for 1000$, installed it in my 2000 tl with a friend and it drove fine till I sold it. All you have to do is swap the upper oiler cooler/warmer and filter assembly, the range switch, and the third and fourth gear pressure switch harness. If you have a base model you have to loop the power steering rack.

Had an 06 Ody trans installed by one of my friends on my CL like 60,000 miles ago and still going.(he works at a garage in Hyattsville , MD), he might start at 5 and work you up but he wont kill you if its straight plug and play like mines was.

Just pick up a used 06-07 Accord V6 trans and have a shop install it. Call around and ask. Its a 4-6 hr job tops Dont call it a "SWAP" when talking to shops about install charges. Shops hear "Swap" and either turn you away or start jacking up the prices.

WOW I live in Northern VA in Gainesville. Hyattsville is like an hour away but I wouldn't mind driving if your friend could help me out with putting an accord transmission in my CL.

I know and if it's $1000 then selling it definitely isn't worth it because the timing belt was just done 10k ago. Car is super clean inside out.

I think neither at this point, I know mines was about to end and I could only drive it under 25mph and less than a quarter mile before it would die out, inbox me for that number

the accord trans is P&P that the shop has to do is remove old trans
swap sub harness from old to new trans
swap range switch from old to new trans
install a NEW oil to water cooler for a TL/CL onto trans
bolt up replacement transmission
