Feeler: Equal Length Headers

As I understood it, EL headers will have a 'peaker' powerband with generally more HP at peak RPM. UEL will have a broader powerband with just a bit less HP up top. I could be wrong, but this is how I always understood it. I'm eager to learn though
With that said, custom headers aren't easy to fab and make power. Give Jake a break. You mad? Grab a Snickers.

To sum some things up for those just joining the thread and whatnot.
What kind of power can we expect from these?
How much will they cost?
Time frame?
Will it include the jpipe that will bolt to the stock cat/catback?

Hey Jcharged thanks for all the hard work.
Would the project come with a custom bracket to fit the stock header heat shield? (To give us California drivers a "stock" look to possibly avoid smog inspection failure due to an non-carb header)
I would be willing to pay sextra $$ when they do come out

Not sure what you mean by this. Seems like you contradict yourself. Typical 3-1 headers will only have 1 merge point. 3-2-1 will have 2 points of merge, but I'm still not understanding what you mean here.

On a v6 its much harder to have a 3-2-1 and have each cyl be the same length, and why they are typically 3 into 1
Now like I said earlier on turbo applications its different due to the higher egt's and making sure each cyl is able to help spool the turbo the same.

I didn't think i contradicted myself, I guess I just didn't get my point off clearly enough. I'll try to make it a little clearer. As i understand it, The equal length has more to do with the length of the runners from where they come off the head to the point in which they merge together. ( just for illustrative purposes, on our car we have 6 cyls. And to be equal length all 6 pipes (3 front, 3 rear) would be 1.5" long from exhaust manifold to the merge point). What happens after that (the j pipe) is of less importance of making sure the front and rear pipes that connect be the same length as long as they are eventually connected just to equalize the front and rear cyl's
On a v6 its much harder to have a 3-2-1 and have each cyl be the same length, and why they are typically 3 into 1

I wouldn't be waiting around for this to happen. If it happens good but don't get your expectations up.
If you really want a set of custom headers you should take the initiative and get them made yourself.
I can just picture making one set then giving up because the profits won't be worth all the time invested.

Glad to finally be getting on this thread. I don't know if this has been addressed in the last 6 pages (I only read the first two) but if the primaries were a separate piece from the j-pipe the fabricator could also mock up a second j-pipe for people doing j swapped civics and REALLY open up the market for these things. The primary length and routing will be where the biggest gains are to be found if I am correct.

THESE WILL BE MADE! I’ll be paying for most of the fabrication and R&D.
Once everything comes to fruition, I will contact the admins and mods to become a vendor and hopefully start selling these to the many J-Series enthusiast. The cost will be affordable, I promise (putting my name and credit on the line here)!!!

Jcharged posted on v 6 p forum the other day that he sold his car. This project is dead I would assume. Honestly I knew since the first day this thread was posted that it would never happen. You can't trust anyone on this forum to get custom parts made. If you want custom parts you have to get them made yourself.
I will be having a shop(king motorsports) make me a set whenever I get time to take the car in for the fabrication for approximately $1500.
Thanks for trying Jcharged. Seems everyone sells their cars before they ever complete projects. You will never see me do this. NO EXCUSES.

Since were on the topic of Hickamhatch, my stainless steel flanges came in the mail yesterday that he had made for me. They look great! Slightly bigger than the ports on the heads so I'll be able to port match them to the flange. Since I received these now I'm going to get the ball rolling on having these long tubes built.

P2r sells flanges also, but they are mild steel.
http://www.powerrevracing.com/J-Seri...nge-p/p390.htm
It doesn't specify whether it is for 1 or 2 flanges.
They also sell a j37 crank snout spacer.

B series tb on j32a2

BTW fox what type of stainless steel is that?

Yes Jake sold his car. The project is on the back burner because of the fabricator. He's focusing his time on UEL headers for the FR-S/BRZ platform since theres more of a market for them.

As for the P2R throttle body kit. Does anyone know if cruise control can still work going that route? If so, I can ditch the dual throttle body idea for my custom manifold and do a nice big single one. I also won't have to make a new cold air intake and I'll just have to modify my current one.

I said thanks for trying and I assume it would be dead since he sold his car. I don't think that is harsh but if it hurts anyone's feelings I apologize.
Not like anyone else is updating this thread.
Reason I asked fox is because certain stainless like 304ss is recommended only for the cat back because of heat issues.

To tell you the truth I'm not 100% sure on what type of stainless it is. I'm sure Hickamhatch can chime in and tell you. I specifically stayed away from those P2R flanges because I didn't want mild steel.

In playing around, i got a mustang 80mm and a blox 76mm to use the stock cable reels so that cruise will work. When i get to that stage of install with my new motor i will show how (if someone doesnt by then)

No surprise. If you want long tube headers expect to pay 1000-2500, depending on which shop and materials used.
The shop will need your car for probably a month also. Just find the best fabrication/welding shop in your area.
It looks difficult to make a long tube header without running into fitment/spacing issues and ground clearance issues.
Then you have to think if tell stock ecu is good enough or do you need the aem ems2 and a tune.
So you are looking at 4-5 grand for headers and a tune on a stand alone ecu, plus probably almost 2 months of downtime.
I plan on installing my headers over winter when I have months of downtime.
I don't see many ppl wanting to spend that much money for so little gain. You also would have to swap back to Oem ecu to pass emissions every year.
For most ppl going forced induction is probably more of what they are after.

I don't know if this has been covered, but I don't understand why someone hasn't made a set of headers that are compatible with the already-available J-pipes for the third generation TL/seventh generation Accord. Since that portion is already readily produced, much of the fabrication element is already done. Just create a set of headers to match the flanges on those and you're set. Then you have a range of J-pipes to choose from based on your needs. The only downside would be that they're not true long tubes. They would just be longer than the currently-available option by 3 inches or so. But, if those headers are known to make power, something like this should make much more. Just a thought,. And like I said, this may have been proposed already.
