Comptech Super Charger Swap

Ok, so here is the situation. I have a local used car lot that has come in to the possession of a “Turbo” CL-S (It’s actually a comptech supercharger kit.) The car is Auto and has 140k on it. I have no further history on it and am pretty sure if I press the issue I will just be lied to.

So here is my question, is it possible to simply swap the kit from his Auto 2003 CL-S to my 6 speed CL-S? Are there any additional parts or anything that would be required? I am hoping to have them agree to a mutual mechanic and have him swap over the super charger kit and replace whatever is needed from my stock CL-S.

Any unforeseen insight is also appreciated.
Thanks,

There are differences between the kits. If you search, others have posted what's required.

i think you'll have a hard time asking to uninstall the kit.
they will decline your request at the first chance they get.

because of liability issues.
who's to say the mechanic wont fuck up anything?
they are trying to sell the car. they cant sell a broken car.

it would be waay easier if you bought the car, swapped the kit, then flipped the car.
this is a better idea because the auto kit isnt a complete 6mt kit.

so, you'll have things missing that you need to find.

Great points. Why in the world would they let you just take the supercharger off and leave them with a car that now no longer runs?

You'll be better off finding someone that's selling one. You're very likely going to lose money if you buy the car, remove the supercharger, and then try to sell it.

I already got him on the line for $800. Either way, don't have the 6k to temporarily sit on the auto. I am going to pass on this one since it isn't a simple swap. I am not much of a super charger fan either way. Thanks for the input guys

ahhh yes, i forgot about money.
I didnt take in account that it would be more expensive with this route.

agreed with you.
if one really wanted the supercharger, i would find one that is out of the car already.

Plus you have no clue the condition of the one on the car. Could need an entire rebuild.

I don't see why the dealer would go that route.
Unless it was just a worker trying to scam the dealer/owner.

Like I said though, I did actually get him to agree. Based on the fact that people who don't know what they are looking for, a supercharger really isnt going to change the sell price of a 6k used 2003 car. IF there are people who know what they are looking for, would you really want an auto cl-s with a supercharger for who knows how long installed by who knows from a used car lot that doesn't know the difference between a turbo and a Supercharger? If it was a direct swap over and he could use my parts to return his car to stock make and extra grand or so in the process, and still sell the car for the same price, then he is happy. Also, I think you are mixing up dealership with used car lot. I said local used car lot. Definitely wouldn't call it a dealership.

off the top of my head the differences are the elbow to the manifold, esm voltage (can be changed simply).

You can take the s/c off in 5-10 minutes. But then you need the spark plugs, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, unwire the esm, battery tray. You can google the parts list for the s/c and see what's in the kit.

Thanks for this G. I already turned him down yesterday after finding out it wasn't a very simple swap over since the moment it strays away from simple, liability becomes an issue.

I think I'm just going to leave my CL-S 6 stock as a daily driver and keep saving up for my actual goal project of a 1st gen rx-7 with a 351W swap.

its actually very simple like gnuts said .looks like you just got a bunch of advice from people who don't or never owned the sc kit.
