Same goes for factory head bolts. Torquing down head bolts has absolutely nothing to do with torque in theory. As mentioned, its all about stretching the bolt to achieve the most strength from the fastener itself.

Nothing much you have a general idea of what's going on for the 2014 season from our texts . It just takes time and money lol. Especially since I've been buying stuff for the new daily also so it's kinda like I'm building two vehicles at the same time.

A little sneak peak of what should be arriving in the mail this week. The day it shows up at my front door is when I will order the turbo, I'm stuck between two different sizes smh lol. Pt7175 or 7675 gt42r style. Well plans evolved even more for the car and I pretty much decided to go all out on building it. I have new power and et goals for the 2014 season. I hope to make at least 1,000+whp and go anywhere into the 9's in the 1/4 while still being pretty much full weight. Of coarse that would be on high boost and race fuel, which it will be on 24/7 lol.

Here's some pictures enjoy.

I can't tell all my secrets.... I guess I'll let the cat out the bag. I'm telling you all this if I don't make 1k+whp I'm going to burn it and push it off a cliff hahahahaha jk jk. Like I said in my last post I decided to go all out. No more stock shortblock.

Here's a quick rundown on the new setup performance wise. I'm using the J35A3 block since it's in better condition and is identical to the J32A2 one. J35A3 crank, LA sleeves bored 1mm over to achieve a 90mm bore so it will be a 3.6l, pauter rods, cp pistons, and all new bearings. The heads are milled, going to have them mildly ported and polished, installing ferrea valves, supertech valve springs/titanium retainers, custom adjustable cam gears, and custom grind turbo cams by Sheepey Built. I can't make up my mind on the turbo size yet but I'm leaning towards using a Pt7175 gt42r style not sure on the exhaust a/r size yet with up pipe and up tubes going out the hood. Custom large 4 1/2 core sheet metal end tank intercooler. For fuel Q16 24/7 since it's not going to be driven frequently anymore, ID2000's, aeromotive pro series fuel pump, regulator, fuel filters, obx fuel rails, aeroquip nylon black braided 12an feed, 10an return, sumped oem tank.

I think that's everything off the top of my head lol.

Here's a nice little update for you guys. The turbo manifolds and intake manifold came in the mail a few days ago. Thanks Hickam!

I'm going to order the turbo and both the wastegates tomorrow. Once they arrive I can trailer the car to my boy RameyBuilt's shop to get started on a few things. While the car is there I'm having the block sent to inlinepro locally to have it sleeved and o ringed.

All looking well Greg. Glad to see some progress with your car man. Matt did a helluva job on these intake manifolds and can't wait to see how it looks powder coated black on the 3.7. Speaking of Matt....haven't seen him out this way in a little while. Maybe he will come and jingle some bells.

Again, great progress.

Can anyone tell me definitively that CL-S J32A2 heads with 36mm valves will work on an MDX J32A3 bottom end?

Have the J32 from stock and bought a J35 to replace it. Will not be touching the pistons that are in the J35.

Thanks all

^^^ no doubt! bolt it up I think it will be fine. I milled 0.020" off my j35a3 heads with j32a2 cams and have no issues. That will bring the valves closer than the 1mm difference in the two valves Let use know how it turns out. Both engines share the same casting for heads and block.

yeah i did see this earlier, but one thing someone mentioned on a dif forum is that it probably wasn't tested under the vtec lobes. i'm sure it would work fine when hand cranked on the normal lobes.

Thinjim, someone who probably knows quite a bit about the motors, said the RL cam wouldn't work in a J32A2, and the RL pistons and CL-S are probably the same.. so considering the smaller valve reliefs on the MDX pistons and similar longer durations of a CL cam (vs MDX cam), i'm not willing to be the guinea pig

the head part numbers are the same, yes, and the MDX valves are the same size as J32A1 valves (supposely 34mm on a J32A1 but 35mm on a J35A3??), there is a difference somewhere..

I've read that the differences between the valves are less than a mm. I understand not wanting to be a guinea pig though..

They will bolt up just fine and you wont have any clearance issues. I have them on my J35a3 block which was decked and my heads milled, both beyond factory service recommendations. (before tearing it down to build my 3.7 i clayed the piston/valve with vtec open to make sure there would be clearance and there was) I also have the J37 MDX cams in which are more aggressive than the J32a2 cams in the J32a2 heads
