another new to me cls6 owner
new member to acurazine, and just picked up a 03 cl 6-speed. it has 207k on it, but in pretty good shape for her age. Only other issues are a non working headlight, no working FOBs and a crack in the rear bumper cover. Scoped out a few local salvage yards and didn't turn up donor parts.
Just ordered a Timing belt "kit" and a couple PS hoses (suction hose leaking).
I just started pulling the front bumper cover off to troubleshooting the headlights. the PO replaced the bulb, but the light is still not working. Lots of new topics to read and info to sort, so far i have been finding most of my answers here. Lots of good info.

If the bulb doesn't seem to be the problem check the fuse panel to make sure the fuse isn't the problem.
If there is still no light more than likely it will be the ballast that is mounted right underneath the headlight that will need to be replaced. If you are going to do that it seems like people are going with aftermarket ones, being that the ones on our cars technology is over 10 years old, and it will be half the price!

thanks. I checked the fuse and bulb, nothing. I pulled the front bumper cover and verified everything even swapped the lights. pretty sure it a bad ballast. looked around and finally decided to order a pair from ddm tuning based on several write ups. Pulled the intake and valve covers to adjust the valves, can't believe how clean the engine is for having 207k miles on it. hardly any carbon buildup.

i have had several Honda's before, and had good luck with them. (I love Honda's sport line of ATV's). My Daughter Just turned 16 and I wanted to get a manual lso i could teach her to drive it. I also wanted something that was easier on gas then my Land Cruiser for commuting to/from work. I was focused on a Honda or a Toyota just because of my familiarity with them but, I just happened to stumble across CL.

Well, I replaced the timing belt/water pump/ belts/ etc. I got the headlights cleaned and replaced the ballast/ bulbs and adjusted the valves and changed the oil. All buttoned back up and running pretty good.
I do have a slight vibration under load, cv boots look ok, and i dont hear any difference when driving full left or right. need to check the motor mounts, and the maybe control arm bushings. it also squats a little in the rear on hard acceleration, might need to replace some struts.
