2001 Acura CL Type S chirping sound when driving
Hi all,
I have an 01 CL Type S with about 133,000 miles on it and now when I am driving on the highway I notice a chirping sound coming from the front right of the car. Its a pretty consistent noise. Sound doesn't happen when idle or when I steer or start the car. Any ideas on what this might be?
Thanks!

Chirp noise... U mean accessory belt chirp?
Does it happen when u hit the AC on. Could be the AC clutch unit itself. Could be the belts getting old or ur spring tensioner is loosening up due to old age and may need replacing.
Does the sound increase with speed or does the frequency of the chirp change with speed?
Could be the tensioner bearing.. Mine make a tiny tiny squeak in the morning or on a moist day and then 5 mins with the engine running absolutely nothing to hear.
Typically the belt chirp will happen more so when u begin driving the car and as it heat up the belt tend to grip better and chirp less. So I kinda am leaning away from the drive belts.
Have u had ur 105k service done?
Cause that would/should mean u will have no problems to find in the timing area. If u have not had the timing service done u may want to. U could have old ass bearings in there that could be causing the noise which will wear ur timing belt out and then ur out the whole motor.
But I'd start by look at the tensioner area ... I have personally seen them mess up a few times on my company 02 mdx so I got no faith in them.
Keep us posted on the fix op.
Good luck pal
