what tire size to run on my 08 tls wheels
picked up a set of 08 tls wheels for my 03 cls and I wanted to know what size you guys normally run on these for the older generation of cars. I know the 08 tls runs a 235/45/17 and the cls runs 215/50/17 so I wasn't sure which size to run since the wheels don't have tires on them at the moment.
any input would be greatly appreciated...

In order to get info that is going to help you, you need to provide more info regarding your ride. Are you riding on a stock suspension? Are you lowered? How much? Any other mods you have done so far? Are you planning to do more? If so, what? Etc.........

sorry, they car is stock except cosmetics at this point. this is my third cls and the only one I've owned that is a 6sp. im planning on lowering it but only with coilovers. im contemplating springs but id rather just take the stock suspension out and replace it.
it needs other work so I purchased the wheels only because I came accress a good deal. Im doing other things it needs in the process so its back to 100% before I add a lot of mods.

The typical recommendation in these scenarios is to drop / lower first then do wheels and tires. Doing it the other way around can have undesirable outcomes in terms of fitment, having to roll fenders, rubbing and cutting of tires.
Certainly understand why you got the rims now - no issue with that. If you can wait on buying tires until you do your suspension mods, that would be my recommendation.

go on 1010tire and compare rim and tire setups. http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-Calculator
You want to get it as close to the stock wheels as possible so your speedo isn't off. The TL rims you have should only need a rear fender roll once you lower the car.

I have 18x8 +45 aspecs with 235-40-18 tires. I'm lowered on h&r sport springs and koni yellows. The only thing I had to do was slightly trim the rear tabs and I don't have any rubbing anymore.
