Went from 31mpg to 25 mpg.??
Can anyone help me out with this? or at least give me some pointers? I normally average about 29 mpg since I mainly do highway driving. Today I noticed I was averaging 25 mpg. What could be the reason? I mean I'm not asking for anything specific but just you know, ball park figures. My oil isn't due for another oil change for at least 4k more miles. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey Garcia85!

Because of so many variables that affects gas mileage, it's pretty hard to say why.

Here are some reasons but are not limited to these:

- cooler weather
- tire deflation
- winter blend of fuel
- 02 sensors getting lazy

It's just one tank. Hard to say in a single tank what could have caused it. It could be something as simple as the pressure shut the gas pump off early so the tank wasn't truly filled.
See if you still notice the difference after a couple more tanks. Then you'll know if you should be worrying about something wrong.
