Timing and Water pump repair price

What's the average cost to have the water pump and timing done. I was quoted 800 to 1200.

About $1000 through the shop, I'll do it on the side for 6-700 depending on parts quality

$800-$1000 about right

The price you gave is average from a dealer because they use OEM Acura parts and use the complete timing belt replace kit which includes timing belt, water pump, tensioner, idler wheel, etc. Don't skimp on the parts. Aftermarket water pumps are not OEM and use the full kit so all the important parts are replaced. Yeah, you can skip replacing the water pump but why? After $100K it makes sense to start fresh.

A few years ago mine was $650 including tensioner at an independent shop. Another independent shop with certified Honda mechanic was $800. Dealer was right around $1000 but I did see specials from them for closer to $800.

I would try yourself, I didn't have a clue until I tried. If not;yes you're on point with the price.

Welcome to AZine.

Most people wouldn't say the timing belt is a piece of cake. It's not a difficult job, but it wouldn't be easy for someone with no experience working on cars.
