Talking Which shift knobs will fit the 2003 CL??

Hi, just wondering which shift knobs will fit the 03 acura cl six speed? My shift is peeling. I was wondering if the 2010 Acura TL shift knob will fit?

Go with Momo knob and boot. Best way to shift.

Most knobs will fit it is a 10 x1.5 mm threading. Most honda/acura knobs will fit. persoannly i would avoid universal knobs like momo and go with one that screws on. I like the skunk 2 knob, voodoo s2k knobs, maven shift knob, and a few others. I have the titanium voodoo knob myself and that is my favorite.

2010 TL knob will fit, the TL shift knob hasn't changed since 2004. If you go this route, the shift knob will clip right into your shift boot via the existing collar.

I went with the TSX shift knob because the perforated leather on it matches the parking brake handle and I just like the way it looks but you will need to do some boot modification (get rid of the collar) to make it look nice.

FWIW, TSX, S2000, and Civic Si shift knobs are all the same they just have a slightly different finish to the metal.

WOW I just called the acura stealership and didn't know that these tsx knobs cost so friggin much! He quoted me 162 bucks! LOL, but onto some good news, the 2010 TL shift knob only costs 11 bucks!!! But man that tsx knob looks nice! I see two TL knobs when i searched for the picture on google

and one like this

I personally like the one with the silver cap, how would one as the dealer which one to order? Does anyone here have the specific part #s??

Is it the original leather knob that is peeling on you? I have an extra at a good price if you need it.

I went ahead and bought the 2010 TL's knob. It was VERY cheap considering the prices of the other knobs you guys pointed out. Total was $11.35. Should come in by next week at the dealer and I'll try and post some pics. Does anyone know specifically how to detach the knob on the CL?

GENTLY pull the shift boot collar off of the shift knob. Once this is done turn the shift knob counter clockwise to unscrew it.

Once that is done, screw the new shift knob on and clip the boot collar back in.

The whole process should take roughly 115 seconds

FWIW I can't believe that the TSX shift knob is still in the $160 range while the TL knob is under $15. When I got mine, the TL ones were in the $70 range. Fortunately for me I didn't pay for mine, it's good to have a used car manager at an Acura store as a friend

Glad I've got the S2000 leather wrapped knob. I've got to be careful to not touch the metal on a 100 degree day so I can only imagine how difficult it would be to drive with a full metal knob.

you guys are wimps my titanium never bothers me but i park in the shade. Maybe you guys need a shifter condom(i remember seeing them a few years ago) Its basically a cover out of fabric you put over the knob when parked in the sun.

Did you ever find out the part number for the TL shift knob? It wouldn't happen to be "NH167L" would it?

That's the same as the TSX knob, except the TSX knob has perforated leather on it so it matches the parking brake and the gear map is done in red so it matches the type S logo.

I forgot that I also have a titanium RSX S knob (accessory not stock) which again is essentially the same thing without the leather around it. I have no shade to park in at work, it gets too F'n hot in the summer.

Thats really odd. I know we have members here who have the TL knob. The knob looks the same as the old one, I'm surprised they would change the threading and shaft thickness.

2010 TL 6-speed manual knob is:

54102-TK5-A01ZA

It appears there was also an optional one from the dealer at the time of order.

I wonder why the tl knob would be so cheap. Must not be quality material and must have no weight to it. Here is what I found for the 6mt from acura parts site.

54102-TK5-A01ZA KNOB, CHANGE LEVER *NH167L*
( GRAPHITE BLACK ) 001 2010 TL 8.45 $6.34

$6.34 for a shift knob? must be plastic only?

aftermarket is the way to go tho.

I just ordered the old 2004 TL shift knob (54102-SEP-A01ZA KNOB, CHANGE LEVER $67.35)over a month ago. I do not like it, not much weight and the leather is cheap at least in my opinion. It doesnt match with the leather of the hand brake. The one I got looks like this:

I've had the red lettered TSX knob and now the black lettered TL one.

The TSX knob is many times heavier, it uses a better (real) metal that conducts heat, but doesn't fit the stick CL boot that well. I liked it tho.

The TL knob fits the CL boot perfectly, but is made is some kinda pock metal, probably aluminum. it doesn't hold much heat. It is super light weight and lower quality than the TSX. I like it cause it fits, and the stock CL knob is hideous.

Many years ago when I was looking, the TSX knob retailed for like $130 or so, the TL knob was much less. I think the TSX one was made in Japan.

what is that black face w/white lettering oem knob off of, new TL?

Old timer here, not here often anymore, still love my CLS, at 77k miles now.

Black face/white lettering is off the 2010 SHAWD 6.

Welcome back btw.

I dont think Ive whored out my knob enough (hehe).

S2k titanium accessory knob. I looked at the S2k CR knob first (it has yellow numbers), but it wasn't nearly as heavy as the titanium knob. I think I paid around $80 for it. If its 90 degrees outside, the knob is 120. If its 25 degrees out the knob is 10. I like it though.

The boot is from an 8th gen Accord. I installed it back when I used the 8th gen 6MT knob:

The aluminum cap on the boot though came with my short shifter. I have friends up at the Honda dealer so they toss me deals on some stuff.

Reviving an old thread here...Finally after months of that 2010 TL shift knob I ordered I finally drilled a bigger hole into it and got it to screw into the lever shaft. Here are some pics, looks better than the old and definitely worth the 10 bucks that I bought it for.

Now one more question, the silver plastic lining thing near the base of the boot where it says type s etc. is loose for some reason. Does anyone know how to re-tighten it?

Quick Reply: Which shift knobs will fit the 2003 CL??
