Which replacement part brand should I get? Control arm.
Need to replace my upper control arm. Seems some of the inexpensive replacements from places like Advance Auto Parts don't have the best reviews.
What brand would people suggest I go with? OEM is around $150 plus $25 shipping while many of the local parts places have various brands for around $60 instead. Would rather have the less expensive replacements unless it means I'll be dealing with squeezing or replacing it again in short order.

I would go Moog. They are a highly regarded brand and many members on here like them too.
On Rockauto, you can get the R-Series for 55.79 (RK620285) and 58.79 (RK620284) or the higher Problem Solvers for 80.79 (CK620284) and 87.79 (CK620285). Prices don't include shipping but you can Google for a 5% coupon code. Not sure how these prices compare to your local auto parts store. Some stores will price match Rockauto too.

Think of it this way.
OEM normal use will last 200,000k miles or more.
$100 more buys you piece on mind or cheap insurance.
Another thing to consider is if the aftermarket part fails, you would buy another new part plus the labor... part+instalation labor+alignment. Not to mention the time thats wasted x 2.
Aftermarket??? Don't know, it could be just as good or could go out in a year. But the fact that you're asking this question means there is real concern.
Depends how long you plan on keeping your car.
I use OEM because I like to do it once, do it right, and forget about it. And more importantly past experience has always told me that I've rarely regretted buying OEM. CAN'T SAY THAT ABOUT AFTERMARKET PARTS.
JMHO

I saw another post which said they had issues with Moog for the upper control arm. Seems a number of the 3rd party products don't have the ball joint at the right angle which means it more quickly cracks, lets water in and gives you a nice clunk noise when you hit bumps.
That was kind of my feeling here. I'd rather do it just once. I've seen from other reviews that some of the 3rd party parts end up being replaced every year or even every couple months. Forget doing all that to save a couple bucks.
