since all honda's have the same oil filter thread pitch, you can use any honda oil filter.

the s2k filter has a wider girth, which means its able to filter more because the filter media has more real estate.

and as long as you change your oil and oil filter regularly, IT REALLY DOESNT MATTER which filter you go with, as most of them work great!

^as mentioned, as long as you're regularly changing it out at about 6k miles or so, you're fine with what ever brand you buy.

and as stated; if you use the s2k one you'll get the extra benefit of a wider filter.(a wider filter would benefit the most, because you have more filter media to filter junk)

you're thinking way to hard over this.

the top best filters are:
royal purple
wix
m1
etc.

so, grab whatever is on sale.

You can add Purolator and Napa to that list. Bosch distance plus and the Fram Ultra are also very good.

I went with the K&N High Performance Gold (HP-1004)
Including:

1.Valvoline Full Synthetic High Mileage (5W-30)
2.Laser Platinum NGK's
3.STP Air Filter

The first tune up since I bought it. If there is anything else I should do please explain. Any advice is deeply appreciated. thanks guys.

I use Napa Filters. They are Wix filters. Gold or platinum.

Yep and Purolator is also the same. They used to be hard to find but now Advance Auto carries them. I wonder if anybody has done an oil filter test lately. The ones I read had really bad things to say about Fram. They may be better now but I still wouldn't feel safe using one. I changed the oil in my sister's '14 Escape the other day and it had a Pennzoil filter. She had been taking it to a JiffyLube. Knowing JiffyLube's rep I'd cross Pennzoil filters off the good list.

Been using them for well over a million miles without a single engine issue. Been using them on the TL for over 600k miles now with extended oil change intervals of 15-20k and have had zero engine issues (and yes, i DO know what the inside of my motors look like, all motors the bearings looked like new, and the cyl walls all had original cross hatching, none burned or consumed oil. The only reason i have had different motors on the TL is from upgrading from base, to type-s to 3.7) If you are using a quality oil, have decent air filtration, and your motor is in good shape the oil filtration shouldnt be as much of a concern, or should i say most read too much into the internal build or how small of a micron it filters too.

I also use fram filters.

the important key take away is to change the oil and filter on a regular basis

Although you have had no issues, that just means using Fram won't directly cause damage.

Still however, Fram is by far the lowest quality filter from any major brand. It's good enough not to cause damage, but it just does the bare minimum.

Lots of good info in there for you.

Purolator is not the same company as WIX. WIX makes Napa filters so they are the same. Just wanted to clarify.

Fram isn't a bad filter and filter failures are few and far in between. But yes they are the bottom of the barrel. Do they still work? Of course. Changing the filter is a ton better then not at all. There are just better filters out there for the same price as Fram or a bit more.

oops on the Wix/Purolator Still can't bring myself to use a Fram filter tho. The PureOne was $5.
Whoever said a filter is a filter is a filter was on the right track. The overlap between good filtration and good flow is probably pretty big.
The only thing I like about K&N is the nut welded on the end and that isn't worth $13 to me.
I guess the OP got plenty of info

I have looked into using an all metal reusable Filter. Did some research and found mixed reviews. It would be better for environment. It is pricey to start off with, but can save money in long run. It is also easier to check Filter contents than cutting apart normal filter.

FWIW, I use Wix or Napa Gold (same). Purolator works in a pinch. Heck I used Fram for years and years! I change every 5,000 miles with M1. Easy to remember. 150,000 on the clock (time to change!).

I wouldnt call the inside of the motor looking like new after 220k, and 440k just the bare min of filtration. Simple fact is is they do what they are supposed to do. If you NEED it to filter that much better you have other issues you need to be addressing or worrying about. Does it hurt to spend more on a more expensive filter? No, but it is akin to putting in Redline full syn or Amsoil and changing it every 3k. Its just throwing money out the window.

I used Fram for years without a hitch, and then I got on a kick to watch some comparisons. I read how poorly Frams were made, watched the videos of people cutting them apart, and read the testimonials of people who lost motors because of unstable internal media, and decided not to take any more chances. I stick with Mobil 1, Bosch, or Wix. They can cost a bit more, but it's cheap insurance.
