My Dream Car!! Sell me stuff to make it faster!!
Hello first time poster here (so pardon if placed in wrong forum) and I have been searching the web over to find anything performance related to my 2001 Acura CL Type S j32a2. I only have a Injen cold air intake on it now and a vtec controller yet to be installed. I also have a ob2 reader and use the torque app. Mainly looking for Comptech headers/exhaust ect but will be happy do discuss anything and any help you can give will make my day, cmon what are ya waiting for reply and make my DAY!!

you can get a Ralco underdrive pulley. Install is not easy, the crank bolt is on there.
Just get DC headers, they are good quality and no worse than comptech power wise.
Custom exhaust will be cheaper.
You're auto, so not sure how much power you want to try and add before your tranny blows.

I am auto yes but I only have 65k miles on my 01 and it has had the tranny service done to it. If I blow the tranny I blow it not stressed about it. I have noticed a big increase in fun to drive"ness" since the cold air and wanting more. Thinking probably headers then suspension. Can I keep the same belts with the Ralco? Exhaust custom like with one of those Flowmaster kits on Amazon? is it 2.25 or 2.5" And by my estimates 15 hp was easily gained by the cold air intake alone. I dont care about how many HP I put down just want newer lighter performance mods.

The underdrive pulley requires a smaller belt, no big deal. Stock size light weight uses same belt.
Go to an exhaust shop and get a quote. Weld some universal magnaflow mufflers on if you want some sound.
Headers are a great power mod. Get those next.

Thanks alot gnuts! I am going with the DC sport headers and Ralco later should I get all three or just crank? If just crank maybe get then probably the Megan coilovers. I at least have more direction because of this post and thank you all so much for that! Which would you recommend underdrive or stock lightweight? if stock XLR8? I would rather spend money for the better quality parts. Again many thanks you help me very much many LoL

Just get the crank, the other pullies are only good for like 1hp each. Not worth it. Actually I just looked up and you can get all 3 Ralco pullies for less than just the crank from XLR8. Many have run the Ralco with no problems.

I think the XLR8 one looks like higher quality and lighter. I don't know if the other pulleys could lead to any issues I don't know about? Also any thoughts on a high flow catalytic converter? Can all the parts you guys have on your cars just no longer be found? Would I make or buy a 4" cai? And im planning or wrapping the headers in thermal wrap... smart?
Intake manifold spacer help? Thermal intake manifold gasket? Throttle body spacer? I dont know much trying to learn. Thanks again so much Justinspace and gnuts

you can get an Airaid UBI intake kits and make your own intake, but if you have one already I'm not sure I'd bother.
High flow cat is a good upgrade, do it at the same time as the headers. You can get a magnaflow universal cat for cheap.
The manifold spacer that xlr8 has along with thermal gaskets would give a bump in torque. Theirs is a milled down MDX spacer so you can still close the hood.
Throttle body spacer don't bother. A bigger throttle body or maxbore the oem one, port your intake manifold and runners.
That should keep you happy.

Definitely start with all the bolt ons. Our Crank pulley is a straight forward installation. So are exhaust components like headers and catback. Definitely do a Test Pipe or HFC as well. Freeing up air flow from the cat with provide the best gains.

Thanks alot XLR8 for the info, some of those items I hadn't seen on your site before. Specifically the test pipe. If I replace my cat with that dont you think id have an issue with emissions testing? Also thanks for the Injen link but it's already installed And the headers are a bit on the pricey side when compared to Amazon. I do plan on purchasing my pulley from you guys and possibly the test pipe. I think you guys are great

The test pipe would most likely cause problems passing emissions. Your best bet for maximum performance and emissions compliance is our XLR8 High Flow Cat.

We often price match other reputable vendors. Feel free to shoot me a PM with the amazon link and I'll see what I can do!

Looks like everybody has given you all the advice you need but I want to stress what gnuts said about the mufflers. Stay away from Flowmaster
These guys can get you started on a DIY kit.
Oh and congrats on the car. I still love mine. I hope to love it more in the very near future
