Modding my Acura CL 3.2L...I'm 16

Before we start let me tell you about the car and myself. I'm located in Montreal Canada. I'm 16 and just started driving, and my father got me this 3.2L Beast as my first car. Although the it's texhnically under his name it's my car and I'll be modding it.

I am neither a ricer or tuner Idk what I am.

Mods I want to do:

-Air intake (just for the sound #ricer)

-Painting whole car black sooner or later..

-help me😂

So first mod😂😂, I'm 16 so don't hate. I plasti dipped my front grill black.

Thoughts?

Ps. What colour should I paint the car? I was thinking a metallic black..

Welcome to the Acura community! There is plenty to do for this car. It you have the time, take a look at the 2g tl DIY threads, its loaded with things you can do. I would make sure the trans is in good condition before modding. Redline d4 is a beautiful trans fluid for these cars, it shifts firmer and faster. If I were you, I would read up on the transmission fluid and failure threads so you are aware of failure symptoms because once you start adding power to a glass transmission, it only shatters faster. Otherwise just to name a few mods, there are Headers, J PIPE, cat back exaust, intake manifold spacer from Honda pilot, will have to cut hood supports a little and is my fav mod on my CL, and an intake manifold swap from a newer sh-awd Acura. That's just the start, You don't need a turbo or supercharger with these to have alot of fun in these. If you browse the fourm, there is a wealth of info to be had here, if it wasn't for this site, my trans would have went 2 years ago!

welcome fellow . Definitely read up on the transmission issues on the automatics.

It looks like it could use some TLC. Give the headlights a wetsand (kits available at crappy tire). Are you really going to drop a few grand on a paint job? Not the best way to spend your money in my opinion.

As far as power mods go, headers first. DC is a quality brand. There are other ebay brands with questionable fitment and welds, but many have had them without issues. For intakes, I would suggest a 4" UBI intake kit.

For a CAI, I would recommend getting an eBay one for noise and some performance, $100+ for tubing and 7hp isn't worth it. I'll take a pic of my engine bay later, I have the IM spacer, CAI, and throttle body coolant delete. My engine bay looks like a DIYers mess. If your going to need an alignment soon and want your tires flush with the fender rather than in the wheel well, you can get lug nut spacers to stance the car a little better. I also debadged the rear, I only left the Acura symbol and it looks HOT, if you just left the symbol you could match the color to your grill

Its luck of the draw with dealer ships, i dislike them personaly. they list all the trans symptoms in the tl trans failure thread. the most common symptoms are shuddering in third under light throttle, slow gear changes at higher rpm, vibration when changing gears,, hard engagement into reverse, hard 1-2 shifting, and worst of all, if the trans is done done, it could drop into 2nd gear at highway speeds and potentialy cause an accident. if you dont feel any of these then Congrats!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/99-03-Acura-3-2-TL-01-03-3-2-CL-COLD-AIR-INTAKE-KIT-BLUE-FILTER-/220900829725?fits=Make:Acura|Model:TL&hash=item336 eb72a1d:m:mHFUMyjXoCoyq56ZncZrHFA&vxp=mtr. that should work for what you want, its the exact one i have. if you do a 3x3 with redline d4 you should be in the clear with your tranny.

Why? To look like a 16 year-old? Blue light offers less visibility and makes you look like a douche.

8000k is just a more crystal blue and the visibility for me is better than say 6000k or Halogens, I can't stand the ones who have say 10000k or 30000k setups for headlight assembly's not made for HID's....they are the douches...
