my shocks are about due for replacement 194xxx thought about going with koni yellows but it just doesn't seem practical with so many miles now. On a scale from 1 to 10 would KYB be a decent replacement to go with? rockauto has a rebate of 40$ with the purchase of 4 KYB shocks till the end of April

KYB is the OEM equivalent. Stay away from the Monroe crap..


Just go with the KYB and call it a day.

KYB does have a performance shock similar to the koni yellow with dampening adjustment.

Similar in price, but not merit. I can't speak to the AGX shock on this application, but the CB7s that I'm more familiar with have had multiple premature failures of the AGX shocks on lowered cars. Despite their adjustable dampening, they are the same length as a factory shock so they can't compensate for lowering springs as well. I believe even KYB recommends not going lower than 1.5" on them for that application.

Just ordered a set from rockauto, they were having a closeout /whole sale on the kyb shocks got them for 150$ plus after I mail in the rebate i would be paying about 90$!

question: do you have to take the rear seat out to take the rear shocks out?

yes. there are bolts on the tower for each shock behind each seat.

installing them on Sunday, probably will have to replace lower control arm bushing also making a lot of vibration at 40+ mph ruled out tires, rotors, tie rods, cv joint. I will update again when its complete

I did the install on Sunday I was able to do 3 of them, only problem I ran into was I snapped the head off the bolt holding the shock in place on the rear driver side, but was still able to get it out of there and put the new one in, rear passenger side same problem but the dam bolt wouldn't even turn with the impact on it, pounded it with a hammer, put heat on it nothing, so had a shop take care of that one. the whole install only took a few hours to do and was a lot easier then I thought it would be.


here is another story while the car was at the shop I told them to check out the front end cause I was getting some vibration going down the road at freeway speeds, the mechanic took it around and snapped the drive axle! the owner of the shop new I wasn't happy that I was going to have to pay 200 to get it fixed and there a trust worthy shop I always go to them at the end he told me just to pay for the part and the will cover the labor for install so all and all I pad 176$ for the install of the shock and new cv axle

after driving it on the new shocks for 4 days I am going to take apart the front shocks again, feels like the drive side is more stiff then the passenger side when I go over bumps, so going to do an inspection this weekend make sure everything went together properly.
