2001 Acura CL vs. 88 Honda Accord

Well, I have been driving the Acura CL for 4 days now. I just cleaned out the old 88 Accord (245,000 miles), to put it on craigslist. I took 88 Accord for a quick drive around the block.

Oh, my god, how have I been doing this to myself for the past 3 years, driving the 88 Accord has been a good way to save some money ... But, I am so much enjoying from the CL.

My biggest concern, I see at least 1 or 2 speeding tickets in my future, and I am pretty sure the days of 35-37 mpg are over.

But, man the ride is sweet. I posted photos in my garage.

Have a great week.

PS. The windows will be tinted ... soon!

No comparison.

My cl is just a base with the bolt ons. every time I used brand new rental cars there is no comparison from the first turn of the wheel to the feel of the gas pedal getting pushed.
Never mind the options are comparable to newer cars.
heated mirrors,seats,6 disc in the dash, garage opener, etc. you know the options
Most would agree you get alot of car,all around car for the money.

Pick up a set of headers for the CL. As long as you drive like a normal human being your gas mileage will actually increase slightly. You should still be able to get about 28-30mpgs out of it.

Thanks, I think I will be getting the $150 headers I have seen posted on the board. Does anybody have a link to the best place to purchase?

Are you talking about the XS headers? Id honestly go for the DC Sports headers instead. They cost more, but are better quality.

I'm in love with my CL, but I don't feel like it's fair to compare the two. I feel like throughout the year honda has made a better car every year, so It's a huge difference when it comes with the years.

My CL is arguably the best car Ive owned. But I still miss my Prelude The CL is just a grown up, faster version of the Prelude IMO.

I agree with civicdrivr, my Cl-S is the best car I've owned. Though I also miss my 5th gen lude and teg Gsr. The Cl-S is just more of a mature version that's still very quick.

I had an 89 Accord for years, modded it up like crazy, you can see it on 89accord.com, but yeah in comparison to the CL-S, wow worlds apart, and I loved that 89. But the CL wow!
