ECM alternatives

Good afternoon, this is my first post but I've lurked for years. (Search function works!). Acura CLS 6speed, 240k. I've been on a wild goose chase. Replaced the clutch flywheel and rear main seal. Upon reinstalling, throwing the crank position sensor code. Replaced sensor., now I think it's the ecm.... It's the 37820-PGE-A12 which is apparently rare. Car won't exceed 2k rpms and is running terrible. Are there any ecm alternatives that will work? there are a few aftermarket ecms like the aem but I don't want to replace any sensors. Looking for a plug and play. Just looking to get her running and sell her. Unfortunately I have already put more in than she's worth and I can't afford this anymore.

Upon changing your flywheel your car starts throwing a CEL, and you think your ECU is bad?

It's your new flywheel. You got the wrong one.

Something similar happened to my buddy and he cleared the CEL with an OBDII scanner and everything worked fine after. He didn't change his clutch, the car was sitting for a couple of months and wouldn't rev past 3500 until he reset the ecu. Never had any issues since and this was over a year ago. Keep us informed!

Where did you get the flywheel from? Do you have the part number?

I got my parts from Rock Auto. Supposed to be stock replacements. Side by side to stock they appeared identical.

Clutch - LUK 08047 (Standard Replacement) LuK RepSet®
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...=1410286&jsn=2

Flywheel - LUK DMF063 Dual Mass Flywheel
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...=1410286&jsn=3

I assume the ECM is bad because it is the next step in the troubleshooting path after the crank shaft position sensor just had that changed.

after some searching, I found part number DMF062. Which led me to

I had no idea the new flywheel had pick ups on it for the crankshaft position sensor. That makes sense.... Could I have installed the flywheel wrong? How do I install the flywheel correctly? I didn't see any pick ups on the flywheel but I wasn't looking.

dangit....

Hmm, the DMF063 flywheel is the correct one for your car. Hard to install it incorrectly. Are you sure it's not the DMF062?

Well, does the new flywheel come with the pin in it? Or was I supposed to pull from old and put in new? I don't remember it aligning like it had a pin. I threw away the flywheel box. They could have shipped the wrong one....

So I'm going to pull it all apart again and check the flywheel. I do not remember there being a pin in the new one. I'm not sure if I was supposed to pull it from the stock flywheel and insert into the new flywheel during install. I specifically remember trying to match the holes in the flywheel to crankshaft and then just rotating the flywheel until bolt holes lined up. Any advice before I begin disassembly again? Anything I could check before hand?

Thanks

What code are you getting? Check the wiring at the crank sensor on the back side of the engine, near the balancer. Check the link below for details.

That pin isn't the problem. There is a crank pick up ring on the DMF063 flywheel that is used for the crank position. I pointed to them in red in the picture below.

The bottom picture is a DMF062 that doesn't have the crank pick up tabs. If you bought and installed the DMF063, then it's really strange that you have a code. What is the exact code you have? It might be an installation problem. Did you remove the tranny from the bottom and leave the engine in the car?

You can pull the starter to check if you have the correct flywheel.
