Base and Type S exhaust difference?

Hey guys! This is my very first post even though I've been browsing the forums for info ever since I got my CL a few years ago.

My question is this: Are there any differences between the base model exhaust and the Type S? Basically, from my cat back every flange is shot and my left muffler is rotting out at the top. I found an 03 donor car, however it's only a base model and my car is an 01 Type S. I know the muffler tips are a bit different on the 03 mufflers to begin with, but are there differences in exhaust size (piping), air flow, and tone?

the base is 2" in diameter and the type S is 2.25 if I remember correctly. And only the 03 has the nicer rolled exhaust tips.
