Automatic to Manual

They are one of the best manuals from honda. You'll need an upgraded clutch obviously, but those are available. But it depends on your goal. Unless you're building a 1/4 mile dragster I would stick with the CL trans. Throw in a TB Motorworx final drive.
It's not brand loyalty, it's just that changing to some other brands transmission doesn't gain you anything. Unless or course you're going rwd like thinjim's drag car.

Yeah I could, but I'm lazy and don't feel like going out to Ontario.. I'll keep it in mind though. On another note I need some ideas. I have an irrational attachment to this car and I've got about 35k-50k (depending on how I feel) to spend. So we know that assuming I do a conversion to MT with the current CL that costs like, what... 3k-5k if you include the price of the trans? I have no idea I'm just ballparking. SO. 30k-45k. What is the best use of my money to put into a CL specifically (no changing cars) that's realistic. Engine, trans, interior upgrades, wheels, body modifications (I'll probably just get a custom kit molded anyways, but ideas for shape I guess) anything you've got (you being anyone seeing this). Also assume I'm doing none of the work.

Willing to bet that like the other 99.9% of those that talk about doing the conversion, this one won't happen.
The idea that you have $35-50k to drop on this (I'd call bullshit) is just silly. Anyone that drops that much on this car should be laughed at. At the end of the day, it's a 15 year old everyday car.

And at the end of the day every one of them is still a Civic and still laughed at by everyone for spending so much money polishing a turd.

I suppose there's some sense to that.. I do enjoy laughing at ricey Civics... I just have this infatuation (infatuation because it's irrational) with the CL. It was my first car and now that I found another that's in impeccable condition I want to make it beautiful...

Do a nice wide body on it to fit some wide front tires (going to need the traction). Racing seats with custom rails, a wrap/custom paint and a cammed 3.7 tuned by dezod (AEM EMS Acura CL Type S 01-03), XLR8 street clutch, custom long tube headers, 3" exhaust.
CL6 4000
Wide body/paint 5000
Seats 2000
Engine 5000
Longtubes & exhaust 3000
Clutch 1300
AEM & tune 2500
Rims 2000
Custom axles 1500
Suspension 1500
Others 2000
That would be one sick car. I hope you're rich though. If you're not then this is a very bad way to spend your money.

You need to get over the first car love. You have 2 auto CLs right? That's great and this is a rare car, but the autos are garbage. Who cares if it's super clean. You should sell both and buy a CL6. If you have 50k to spend then do it right. Buy a flight and pick up the CL6 and drive it home. Plenty of people do that in the states.

If the budget is that high and luxury/manual transmission/Acura logo are the requirements, check out the 2014 TL SH-AWD with a 6-speed. You'll see how much the CL has aged if you sit in one of those. The newer TLX/RLX are even worlds above that, but so far have not included a manual.

Reading through this thread, I can see that you're big on ideas but low on practicality. I don't care how big your budget it, it is still a limited budget. And your budget will evaporate real quick because of the non-existent aftermarket support for this platform.
With money, you can get the J32 to put out some pretty high horsepower figures. That's not going to be a problem. You'll then need to look into beefing up the transmission, clutch, and all of that to be able to deliver the power. Then you've got issues of your CV joints and axles trying to send that power out to the wheels.
With near zero aftermarket support, its going to become custom fabbing after custom fabbing. Your budget will evaporate in no time if you're wanting a street driveable car with the power levels you're contemplating.
