What to do with a totalled car that's not insured?
A friend of mine wrecked his 1996 Mazda 626. The car is not insured with collision coverage.
Estimate to repair the damage came back at $2700.
Kelly Blue Book says the car is worth $2700.
If he doesn't fix this car and decides to get a new one, how can he get the most money possible for the wrecked one? Where can you take it? Who would buy it?

Donate it. Alot of places will say its worth alot more than it really is. It doesnt matter to them, they just write out a receipt to you. I think for anything over 5k here in NY, they need someone else to independantly appraise the car, but for anything less, they operate pretty freely.
My cousin totalled his really old Accord a few years ago, and they donated it, and got a receipt for $4995 which his family then wrote off on their taxes. That was much more valuable, and a whole lot less effort for them. They just called a number, and the place came with their own tow truck.
