alright guys bought this 2001 Acura CL type s with 238k miles. But owner said transmission rebuilt at 160k miles. When I bought it asked what's wrong with it and just said need new front motor mount and that was all. I drove it everything went good. But when I got home the next day drove it, it shudders after shifting to 2nd and after it drives good for a little and jerks every now n then. that's on D5. BUT on D4 nothing happens and drives normal?!?! Checked transmission fluid and it looks good. A little dark need replacing soon but not bad.. No metal particles in the fluid either. Help!!!

Just drive it in D4 everywhere and shift to D5 manually. I did that and never had a problem with my CL's OG trans. As a bonus the shift logic in D4 is way better..

You just took me back 15.5 years ago to when I bought my 2001 CL-S. I went through 2 replacement transmissions in the first 12k miles and got rid of it. Sorry for your problems.

I'm having the same problem too! 2001 Acura CL-S with 176k miles, it's my first car and I absolutely love it but, yea same problem D4 drives good and D5 shakes just like yours, I know my motor mounts are bad on the tranny side so I'm going to change those Saturday and I'll get back to you
