2001 Acura CL trunk wont latch shut

Question 2001 Acura CL trunk wont latch shut
Our CL trunk is open. Noticed yesterday the trunk was open. Went to shut the trunk and it would not latch closed.

Can anyone help?

Does it go down all the way or does it stop within a centimeter or so as if the latch is already closed?

Mine did that, it was the latch spring. I had to take off the liner on the trunk lid and reattach the spring. I was careful and was able to reuse the plastic screw/grommets that attach the liner to the lid.

It goes down all the way but the trunk does not latch onto the bar that is bolted to the trunk wall. trunk goes down....does not click into place.

I found the spring in the floor of the trunk and reattached it....I think its in the right place.
