Already having issues with my Ford. There is crazy vibration through accelerator Pedal whenever I Rev past 4k rpm, even in neutral when not moving.
Is there anything it could be besides engine or engine mounts?
Buying Ford might be a bad idea if you actually want a reliable car. Already had to replace an axle first week of ownership, now this. Ford dealers don't give loaners either. I asked and they told me there is a rental car place down the street I could walk to. They didn't even offer me a ride.
The civic type r cannot come out fast enough.

I posted a link a page back, but can repost it. Seems like noone on Azine or in Northern America in general knows about Hardrace or that they offer parts for honda/acura.
Here is a link for Front Upper Control Arms for 98-02 Accord, 01-03 CL, and 99-03 TL. Part Number is 7689.

Wanted to make an intake filter guard and mud guards. Without the fender liners, debris and water was being shot at the intake filter from the front tire.
Had a thin rubber exercise mat lying around that I used.
Cut out a section. Used the fender bolt and cable ties to hold it up.
Cut out mud guards for behind front tires to keep rocks from getting stuck in door jam. Used the fender liner screws and 1 plastic clip to hold it.

So was scheduled for 2 autocross events this weekend. Went to start the car and the idle is all over the place. It jumps from 1k to 2.4k constantly and bucks at lower speeds.
Scheduled 7 events so far this year and had to cancel 6 out of 7. About to throw in the towel. Pretty discouraged.
Need to figure this out. Any suggestions? Assuming it is a sensor on the throttle body.
If I remove intake and plug the IAC hole in the TB the idle seems to stabilize and stop jumping.

Removed the intake and sprayed some carb cleaner into the IAC hole inside the TB. The car died twice, but idle seems to have stabilized at 750 rpm. Hopefully it stays working.
Think it has something to do with my air filter getting dirty without fender liners. Took Filter out and washed it. Reinstalled Filter. This issue appeared next time I started car. Maybe some dirt or water got in somehow.

I had the same problem on my 2000 tl ended up swapping the iacv with another one I had from a spare throttle body but both ended up being bad. I got a new one and it solved the problem.

so I have my first autoX on Sunday...any tips?

What tires are you running?
I use water sprayer on tires between runs. Tire pressure around 37 cold front and similar in rear. Look past the cone you are turning around. Focus more down the course. Try to be smooth and not overdrive car.
At autocross now. No chance of getting first place this event with slick tires in my class. Hate how they group cars.

That's definitely iacv. I would just replace it. When mine started acting up I cleaned it and it worked good for a few weeks, then started acting up. Replaced it and it's all good now.

Another thing that can help swoosh is tapping the brakes before turning to try and transfer weight back to the front tires.
You can try left foot braking. I haven't bothered doing it though since I would be really slow till I got use to it. My brakes might be too strong also.
Was able to talk to organizer and got RX7 on racing slicks moved to Race Class. Good thing since he had FTD(fastest time of the day).
I ended up in 3rd place. First place was a really fast E46 M3 with racing buckets and roll bar. He was on the new Bridgestone RE71R. Lots of ppl were talking about those tires. They are 200 treadwear but perform like R-Comps. That is the tire to have for street tire classes. Oh well.
Little disappointed about the car that beat me for 2nd place. It was a Fiat 500 Abarth pretty well modded with 1/2 interior gutted. He beat me by 0.1 seconds. My goal tomorrow is to beat him.
Thought I had my GoPro recording, but when I got home nothing recorded. Sorry, will get video tomorrow.
Brakes felt great. I adjusted my ride height for new wheels which might have thrown the corner balance off.
Need to get used to these tires. At the same pressure I used for Star Spec ones, the Star Spec 2 were rolling more onto the sidewall. These new tires are more sensitive to heat. Seems like you need to get a good run earlier in session.
I had issues in the 2nd session trying to best my 1st session time. Finally on my last run of the 2nd session beat my 1st session by less than 0.1 seconds. I usually improve a lot 2nd session.
If I can keep this up, 1st or 2nd place for the season championship seems possible.
Got a lot of positive comments about the car. Someone mentioned how my car tripods like crazy around corners now. Need to get a video of this. Even had a few ppl tell me I'm a good driver. Think the car drives so well it makes me seem like a good driver.

WCMC Autocross 6/28/15 Boomers Stadium
Finished 4th overall in my class. It sounds bad, but the car drove well and I am happy with results.
There was a group of 4 older SCCA guys who showed up. 3 of them were in my class. Those 3 drivers are ones that beat me.
They had a C6 Vette on Bridgestone RE71R tires, a new Porsche Boxster on Bridgestone RE71R tires, and a C7 Stingray Vette not on RE71R tires.
I didn't stand a chance against the C6 vette or the Porsche, especially on those tires. I bet those tires are atleast 1 second faster, not to mention those cars had much wider tires which equals more grip. These tires are getting on my nerves.
The C7 vette was on Michelin Tires so I was within half a second of his time. Not bad being able to keep pace with a new Vette with a seasoned driver.
Was able to beat the Fiat Abarth by over a second on Sunday, not sure why he beat me Saturday.
Not sure I like these Star Spec 2's very much. Had same issue as Saturday. Put down my fastest time in first session and spent all of 2nd session just trying to match it but failed.
2 of my 3 fastest runs were with passengers. Either I messed up the corner balance or just drive harder with a passenger, not sure.
Need to redo my alignment and put more negative camber up front.

Ordered a ball joint separator so I don't have to bang things out.
Once that arrives will install new front upper arms, then align it.
Will be at tirerack on July 10 & 11.
Out of my 20 or so autocross events I have only ever seen 1 other Acura compete, a 2nd Gen TL. Never seen a integra, rsx, tsx, etc. Local car shows are full of integras and rsx's, go figure.

WCMC Tirerack Autocross 7/11/15 & 7/12/15
Decided to take the FoST to the Tirerack Autocross instead of the CL because the drive is almost 2.5 hours on rough roads.
Good news is I think driving the FoST gave me some insight into what to change on the CL.
First thing, need to raise seat up. The position is just too low to see properly for me.
The areas I feel the FoST is better(as far as putting down fast times at autocross):
It rotates easier than the CL which makes it better on tight stuff. Want to try some different tire pressures and see if I can adjust that better. Not sure if there is anything else to do but change spring rates in rear.
FoST with the turbo has max torque at 2800 RPM which helps it put power down at lower rpm exiting corners over the CL. The CL motor is superior, but really likes Vtec. Hard to get into Vtec a lot on the tight courses in Schaumburg. Feel both cars could use some more power.
The FoST has Torque Vectoring which means the car is braking for me to help corner(this might be why it rotates better). Think this might make left foot braking not necessary, and a benefit over the CL since I don't left foot brake and all braking has to be done by me.
It is shorter than the CL with a tighter turning radius. The steering ratio in the CL is not good for tight turns. Have to work the wheel a lot more in the CL versus the FoST.
Areas the CL is better(autocross):
It is lighter(mine atleast). It has a better motor and transmission. It can put power to the ground better than the FoST because of the LSD. The FoST can tend to spin a front tire.
The CL is better at take off and easier to launch for me(more consistent). More use to it though. CL is faster in a straight line.
CL feels faster in long sweepers and slalom. It feels more neutral and planted. No body roll.
CL is modded better obviously. Better, wider tires and adjustable suspension arms.
Thinking maybe just not driving aggressive enough in the CL. Will try harder next time.
Makes me wonder what the FoST could do with a tune, LSD, tires, and suspension.
Mods done to FoST(performance wise):
Green Filter
Rear Sway Bar
TD Wheels
Stock Tires
7/11/15
Big group of cars on Saturday. Fastest Time of the Day was that Honda CRX on street tires. That thing is ridiculous. 18 cars in my group and was not even close to top. CRX did a time in the 43 seconds and I was in the 47's if remember correctly.
There were 2 other FoST to compare against. One had Bridgestone RE-71R tires. Other had RS3 tires. Stock tires for me.
Took some getting use to the car since it is so much different than the CL. Ended up 0.3 to 0.4 seconds slower than the FoST on RS3 tires. Was 1.6 seconds slower than car on RE71R tires.
Here is fastest run from Saturday.
7/12/15
Not that many ppl showed up on Sunday. Only 37 cars total and 7 in my class. Ended up 3rd in class.
Installed a FMIC week before and must not have tightened hose clamp good enough. After 2 runs it popped off so spent rest of session and my break fixing it. That ruined session. Oh well.
Tried a different mounting spot. Sorry for the tilted video angle.
Fastest run on Sunday.
2 pics took on Sunday.
Wreck passed on way home.
Was running tire pressures of 43-44 cold front and 34-35 cold rear on FoST. For comparison been running cold pressures around 37-38 front and rear in CL.

try running higher in the rear in the CL? also stiffen up the rear and soften up the front imo, will help the CL rotate better

Took my CL today to get lunch. Pulled up to a red light next to a Focus ST. After the light, it merges from 2 lanes down to 1. He had his windows down so I said "Whatsup, nice car. I have a ST also. Then the light turned green and we both launched.
I launched pretty hard, but could have launched harder. He stayed within a fender of me in 1st and 2nd gear. Once I shifted to 3rd, started to really pull away. He gave up around 80 mph and turned right first chance he got.
Don't usually race, so this was fun. Probably my closest race to date. That ST was definitely tuned pushing over 300wtq. He thought for sure he would take me. If it was pretty much any other CL he would have won. He just chose wrong CL to mess with.

Took CL to autocross today. Used the first session just to test tire pressures etc. After trying different pressures and talking to a few guys, realized I have been running the wrong tire pressures this whole time.
Have been setting my front pressures at 37 psi cold. Hot that is probably around 41 psi.
Bumped pressure up to 40 cold and the front end was pushing and spinning tires trying to accelerate. Wrong direction.
The fastest fwd driver in a CRX told me he runs around 32 psi in front. CRX has exact same front suspension geometry as CL so that is a good starting point.
For second session, set my front pressures to 34 cold. Over the session ended up removing more air till they were at 34 hot. Car was not pushing through corners or spinning tires anymore.
Set rears at 37-38 hot and was getting good rotation.
First session my best time was a 54.5 think.
Second session my best time was a 51.5 which got me 2nd place in class.
First place was the RX8 gutted race car. He got a 51.26. I kept improving in 2nd session. On my last run of the day I put down a time of 51.1, which would have been good for first place. Thought I had it, then someone called cone on car 465 over the radio. Was gutted, but enjoy competition.
First autocross this year I beat RX8 by 0.2-0.3 seconds and this time he beat me by same amount. My car is faster, but it comes down to me putting in a clean lap.
Here is a video of a run. It is not my fastest and hit 2 cones. Mounted camera to the rear side window for a different perspective.

Thanks. Nimble is a great way to describe it. With all my suspension upgrades it feels so good.
I had one run 1/2 a second faster than video, so car has never even seen its full potential yet.
Noticed a creaking noise on way home yesterday. Got under car today and some of the bolts for my 4 point mid brace had come loose. Tightened it back down. Wonder how it being loose affected autocross. Maybe that is why I was spinning front tires, because they never spun so much at autocross before. Front was pushing more than normal also. Thought it was tire pressure and the heat, but maybe this had a part in it.
Still need to install front upper arms and align car. Having a hard time finding time.

Thats a great sheet to have!
yeah I was running about 36psi cold front and 40rear...did you check your sidewalls after every run? any difference?

It is wearing down to the bottom of the arrow mark on tire. Tried adding pressure to get it where you think it should be. That is not really proper way to do it. More of a starting point.
Next time try cold front Pressures around 32. Most ppl refer to hot pressure over cold. My CL on ZII Star Specs seems to like 32-34 psi front hot. With the focus on stock tires and stock alignment, I and other focus drivers were running 47 psi hot in front. Pretty big difference.
For the rear I just adjust pressure till I get rotation needed for the course. Some course layouts require more rotation than others.
Want to get a Pyrometer to help dial front in even more. Could use a little more negative camber in front.
Just remember to release the throttle and only use steering wheel to rotate. Add power to finish rotation and get out of the corner.

WCMC/CrateEngineDepot Autocross 7/24/15 Lake County Fairgrounds
Went to autocross at Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake, IL. Ended up getting 20 runs.
Finished first in class, 1/10th second faster than c7 vette and 7/10ths faster than the RX8.
After looking at previous times, that c7 vette beat me by 1 second earlier in year.
Finally have tire pressures figured out and think I am doing the car justice.
Am setting my coils to stiffness/compression of 4/6 front and 6/6 rear.
Started with cold tire pressures around 34 front and 37 rear. By the end of day was running 32.5 psi front hot(around 29 cold) and 36 hot rear.
The bigger and more open course helps use the power. Much faster compared to other cars than at Boomers.

My GoPro seems to be messing up the sound on some of my runs. Of course it happened on my best run.
First Place Run of 62.3. Warning mute the sound !!!
Sound is fine in rest of these videos.
Mounted GoPro to Roof. This was only run without messed up sound, but was my worst run of day.
