I have pics etc of Tanabe in my build thread. If you get the Tanabe Lance, I would recommend cutting out the resonator and replacing it with something bigger to tone noise down some.

Brian, do you have any advice on headers or engine upgrades? I'm thinking about a custom small turbo since I can't find anyone who has a quality supercharger for our cars.

Unfortunately I'm late to the party, CT engineering no longer has the headers. Thanks for the video, it's actually pretty quiet for a 3 inch system. Is the quiet sound due to the resonator, as Brian suggests?

Your transmission won't hold turbo power. The automatic trans is flawed and a cooler doesn't fix that.
That said get DC headers. Quality, bolt on power, very little sound change. Light weight crank pulley, big intake.

It made a HUGE difference in sound along with the p2r cans...no rasp, no drone, & solid deep tone under heavy throttle / WOT.
I do miss it at times.
Gonna have to disagree; there's an local member here that's been boosted for a couple of months now... Surprised he hasn't updated his thread
Either way, he's on an auto tranny and hasn't run into any issues that I know of.

I thought this ninja you speak of had the accord trans?

I had replaced the transmission (twice) and it appears to be better. The boost for a small turbo I was under the impression it would add perhaps 30HP. I was thinking this would be fine for the new stock transmission with cooler.
How far am I off in this logic? I am only going by previous experience with other cars and limited research.

I'm not sure how much research you've done on the transmission issue with the CL but it has to do with narrow trans fluid passages that overheated certain areas (3rd gear?). The cooler will lower the trans fluid temp, but doesn't allow more fluid to stop the problem. There have been many failures with the cooler.
IMO adding a turbo or s/c to the auto is asking for trouble. The comptech s/c would add something like 50-60 wheel horse power to the auto. With a turbo the sky is the limit, but it would be a minimum of 100whp and 100wtq.
If you're looking for a small bump in power then get DC headers. There's zero downside to putting them on and they're good for like 25whp.

From Brian and now several others advice, DC headers appear to be an easy upgrade.
The turbo boost I'm looking for is sub 50HP, preferably 35HP. Enough to keep it reliable but give a little kick. From doing turbos and sizes in a previous life, the usual thought is the smaller the turbo, the quicker the spool at lower RPM. I once did a configuration with a small and big turbo and it worked pretty well, it required an APEXI timer that did most of the work (not tuned by me).

since you love the reliability of the CL, the comptech supercharger would be the way to go. Keep your eyes out in the black market for one. You can have them rebuilt for a reasonable price. They bolt on, it's a sealed unit. Put the DC headers on at the same time.
If your trans does go out, you could swap in the accord trans which has been quite reliable for those who've done it.

Well damn... I went to my shop to get the rest of the exhaust welded up. They're under new ownership. Got a bad vibe about the competence and customer care from talking to the new owner and his crew. Plus they wanted to charge 3 times what the old shop quoted.

Alls well that ends well. I did some googling and found a shop. The guys were great. Had some top notch welding equipment and good attitudes.
They welded up everything including the resonator I had clamped to the cat so I have two resonators if you want to call them that. Basically old school cherry bombs or slim bullet mufflers. The owner went looking around in the back and found a couple of stainless SLP tips that he threw in lagniappe. The left muffler is a bit off but at the price they charged and the extra bits I didn't want to make a fuss. With that Y and the tight bends at the back I'm thinking offset/offset might have been better than offset/center. I'm happy with it though.
I'll post some vids if anybody is interested.

it actually takes a lot to break the gears in the trans and the clutches are up to the task... it's the lack of lubrication and fluid flow that does them in, not HP.
