after like a month or 2? I think he crossed that 'sleeping with my buddy's wife after I think he's dead' line just a tad bit too soon.

Again, I'm not trying to argue Shane's virtues...but, given the situation, who knows. Lori likely needed a shoulder to lean on with her husband "gone" and the world turned beyond upside-down...

Again, Rick's death was a fair assumption. As for the "line" in question, how long should they have mourned before facing their new reality?

Lori: You stay away from me. You stay away from my son. You don't look at him. You don't talk to him. From now on, my family is off-limits to you.

Shane: Lori, I don't think that's fair.

Lori: Shane, shut up. DON'T! ( slapping ) - I don't think that - my husband is back. He is alive.

Shane: He's my best friend. Do you think I'm not happy about that?

Lori: How dare you? Why would you be? You are the one that told me that he died. You son of a bitch.

Oh snap. Didn't remember that.

However, if you recall, in a later episode (where I think he was drunk), Shane did plead to Lori that he honestly thought Rick was dead and that he had "y'all to think about"...or something like that?

I still don't think it is black and white.

I guess Shane's "lie" to Lori wouldn't be an example of his dark side if it wasn't a lie. After reading the bio Yumcha posted and reading what some other folks have written online, it seems that the general consensus is that he genuinely believed Rick was dead when he left the hospital, therefore what he told Lori was the truth.

I'd have to see the hospital flashback scene again though. From what I remember, it seemed pretty clear to me that Rick was still alive, that Shane was struggling to get him out of there but couldn't, and that time was running out because the military was over-taking the hospital, eventually giving Shane no choice but to leave Rick behind. He even took the time to barricade the door, not sure why he'd do that if he thought Rick was dead and he was in a hurry to get out of there.

He's lying in a coma in a hospital being overrun by zombies actively eating everyone in sight. So realistically, he was as good as dead.

The question is: IS this the conclusion Shane came to OR was he using the circumstance to gain future access into Lori's pants? (If the writers established that Shane had a fling with Lori before the Zombie Apocalypse then I'd easily buy the latter and the nefarious nature of Shane would be established from the get-go)

I'm going to have to revisit Episode 1 to further psychoanalyze Deputy Shane.

The way I saw it was they all only felt that way cause that one dude said he wasn't going to make it in the hospital cause when he was there he was hooked up to all this equipment that just shut off when the power went out.

Although you would have to think that he had some hope that he would make it out of there or die w/o becoming a zombie since he blocked the door w/ the gurney

Let's not forget he checked his pulse after thr power went out and said he didn't hear anything, although he did say maybe the gunshots and commotion could've made it hard to hear.

Shane is simply the victim of unavoidable shitty circumstances.

- He lied and left Rick to die. He had too. You all saw the scene. Death in the halls, people killing people, zombies eating people, Rick hooked up to important machines, couldn't hear a heart beat, tried to block the door to give him a chance. He did what had to be done.

- Otis dies, he dies, they both die. Which would you choose?

Now what I didn't like was. Why where they dragging so much? Come on, Romero zombies can practically be ran right past... Lol. They didn't just run a marathon, get your asses in gear and run for your lives. Pussies I swear.

*Something that hasn't been said here yet*

Ok so Shane showed two wounds in the bathroom scene. One on his head, which is from Otis clinging onto his hair after he shot him. And one on his right arm, outside forearm. Where did that one come from?

So after watching it twice (anyone else have a wife that passes out in the middle of shows?) when Shane was dropping down out of that window and the zombie reached and got him, you see that before shooting it, he punches it. But he didn't land the punches square, a couple grazed across the zombies face.

So in TV TWD, does it have to be a bite, or is he now infected? It may be a very slow change, as it's basically a rash from the zombies teeth. May not have even broke skin. But it got me wondering...

I thought about that "wound" as well when watching it. Seem to be just a bruise, but .

I thought Otis injured himself when he jumped off the bleacher and Shane injured himself when jumping out the window, hence the hobbling and inability to flee the zombies. It's also possible that all of shane's wounds were from his struggle with Otis, they can play it out however they want, but since they didnt explicitly show a 'bite' occurrence, and I'm sure they would love to milk out the tension between Rick & Shane even further (eventual face off between old friends good cop/bad cop??) so my money is on him living on.

Yeah, I don't think Shane was bitten either.

As for their inability to out-run the walkers, both were injured. And let's not forget that Otis was wheezing and out-of-breath (look at him!) to start with...

Yes they both had ankle problems (I assume). But come on, if they can walk like that then to spare their lives they could go, consistently, faster. That was more of a joke though. This is TV, not reality.

Not saying he was bitten, per say, just that if you watch it, skin to tooth contact appeared to happen. Just saying. I doubt that's where they are going to go but who knows. Like I said, Shane was gone long ago in the books...

Well, firstly, the zombies are quick. Secondly, it seems they were stuck running around in that school for quite some time, carrying guns, supplies, and now, with injuries...

Seems plausible to me. This is no LOST.

If this was LOST, some smoke monster would've saved them and transported them to some time-warp that was yesterday where they could prevent Otis from shooting Carl by accident. But, then...wait. Carl is actually in a love triangle with Bambi and so, wants to be shot because he wants to feel the pain of the bullet so after Carl becomes unscathed, he realizes he wants to be shot and so, goes to the woods and walks there MANY times to look for the smoke monster...The trekking of the woods, which becomes very large (as big as a continent) will now consume and take up the rest of this and next season.

And oh, Shane will develop a blank-stare problem. And become obsessed with cocking his gun. Lots.

Boom. LOST.

Another slow episode. Didn't seem as exciting as the previous ones.

Next Sunday's should be better (based on what I saw in the preview), I hope.
