Seems like a fairly costly series to make. My bet is they only went with a couple episodes in season 1 to gauge interest first. Only when it blew up on them did they decide to double the episodes.

Tonight's episode was pretty damn good. I LOVE how this show pushes people to the brink. Life or death decisions, just how far would you go to survive?

Who thinks Glenn is gonna get it on with that other girl at the farm house?

aww man. they had season 1 online for awhile, but that went away when the dvd came out, then they recently replayed all season 1 before season 2 premiered...now you might need to buy the DVDs (or borrow them). Well worth it I can assure you.

Another great episode.

My only complaint was that it was too dark. And I don't mean storyline wise... I mean the picture. I found myself adjusting my tv and still not being able to tell what was going on. I'm sure they did it for effect, but I wish they had brightened things up a bit. The few clips that they re-aired on "Talking Dead" looked much brighter and easier to follow.

Tough situation to have been in. They definitely should have taken some axes/meat cleavers/knives/etc. so they didn't have to rely on bullets so much.

Also, how is that house getting electricity and running water? CDC ran out and they still haven't?

ha, yeah, on the other hand it's more realistic and theres probably limited outdoor lighting that they can use and not seem unrealistic. Xfiles was notorious for doing everything in the dark.

Oh, by the way, be honest now, who here would have shot Otis as well?

I agree, it is dark. And I agree with the above comment, it kind of has to be to stay somewhat realistic. However, I could see everything just fine.

Have you guys actually calibrated your HDTVs? If not, search for your LCD/Plasma over at avsforums, grab the best settings (like oem setting not settings settings) and make the change. It will make any TV look MUUUUUUCH better.

As for Shane, phew, yea, there may not have been much of a choice there. I really liked how they made him go a little crazy because of it too. His character can be/do whatever they want because in the books Shane got axed long ago. So he's a wildcard right now.

This season has been great. The acting has been great. A little slow, at times, but overall I like the pace. It's more real showing dead space in between action.

One thing I noticed last night, that I really like, is how the show is edited. The back and forth, multiple story lines happening at once.

Yeah, it was pretty dark for awhile. The thing is they don't film it that dark, it appears to be done in post production. I was watching the after show "Talking Dead" and the showed a few behind the scenes and the setting was very bright.

You can't. You still owe me a 50000 word essay and waxing of praise on the Jobs biography you pre-ordered and have in mint condition still.

You can read faster if you actually stopped wearing gloves and a mask in fear of damaging the paper...

Just saying.

With that many walkers, I dunno if melee weaponry would've done anything. If you recall, it often takes repeated stabs and hacks by an axe/related to take one down since only taking out the brain will stop them.

I have thought it over and as crazy as it sounds, Shane did the right thing. It was either A) him, B) 2-Ton, or C) both of them...and if Carl was to have any chance, option C was out.

And well, self-preservation takes in (i.e better him than me) and so, Shane took option A.

I think Shane may be written as a contrast to Rick...one continues to hold out for hope and a better life. The other, goes into the dark savagery and kill-or-be-killed type that Lori was talking about when she was outside on the porch with her husband...

Maybe they'll keep Shane around. They did say they weren't going to be following the comic 100% so those of us reading it will also be able to enjoy the tv show.

Thats what I was thinking. But fresh meat may have attracted more walkers.

fresh meat is a delicacy, shooting someone in the head is not how you go about serving it.

They wouldn't have even been in that situation if Otis hadn't shot Carl. In this world, it seems Shane did the right thing. Otherwise, Shane, Carl, and Otis all would have died.

^ The longer you take, the more the word-count. It'll be 60000 by end of today if you don't get started.

Well we knew Shane had a darkside when he pummeled Carol's husband. The way his character is developing. he'll make Daryl seem sane.

Or when he lied to Laurie and told her Rick was dead, so he could eventually give her the business.

Wait...is that black and white? I thought they all just had resigned themselves into thinking he would never wake up and given how the world ended, they moved on...?

I still believe Shane and Rick are bound by their friendship...But, Shane is burdened by the guilt he has towards what has happened between Lori and him...

That being said, I do not doubt that Shane has a dark side to him. We all have seen it...Of the two friends, Rick is clearly the boyscout.
