Watched "The Business of Amateurs" on Amazon Prime last night. A bit slow paced but has a lot of detailed info and definitely interesting. I always get aggravated whenever I watch one of those NCAA documentaries b/c these schools make so much money on the athletes.

If you like sports, especially college sports, check it out...

The Secret Life of Pets = A solid good movie. Better than I expected.

Hell or High Water = Really good movie.

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back = I enjoyed it. Rotten Tomatoes has it at 37%. I thought it was better than that... at least 50%

+1, "Inside Job" was great. Explained complicated finance (CDS's) and other topics very well. Excellent documentary.

Wife wants to watch "Secret Life of Pets", have to put it on our list.
"Hell or High Water" was excellent, the two pairs of main characters (brothers and Texas Rangers) had great dialog.

We saw Jack Reacher "Never Go Back" last weekend.
I liked the first Jack Reacher film alot more (better plot, and Robert Duval and Rosamund Pike were really good in their roles.
The 2nd was entertaining and Cobie Smulders was good in her role but the plot could have been better.

The amusing bus scene from the first JR.

Saw "Hacksaw Ridge" last night, great movie. Highly recommended.
One of the best parts was the epilogue video of the actual people and you realize how little of the film was Hollywoodized.

my wife and I watched "The Walk" tonight... pretty good movie (based on a true story), but I can only imagine how much better it was in the theater in 3D

Mr. Nobody on Netflix is a trip. Not the best movie, but not bad. Maybe 3/5. Jared Leto does a good job as usual. I can't say it made me think much outside of the norm, so that's a big knock for me with a movie like that.

And s speaking of Leto, Requiem For A Dream is on Netflix now too. I suggest copious recreation before watching. And surround sound is a must.

Sticking with the Jered Leto sugggestions, Dallas Buyers Club is up on Netflix.

Also, I just noticed Momento is available too. That one I recommend.

Watched a couple recently... all Netflix...

Sausage Party - hmm... not sure what to say about this. Definitely interesting...

The Do Over - Adam Sandler flick. Basically steps it up a bit from the stuff he did in his Billy Madison days... like a more adult version of that shtick. Not quite what I was expecting but wasn't terrible and had a few laugh out loud moments.

Hacksaw Ridge was good

The Accountant was even better than ^

Arrival.... I enjoyed it. The ending wasn't what I expected going in. Don't think it deserves the 94% rating by RT though.

From my United flights to Asia and back:

Deepwater Horizon: 6/10 - Decent. If it wasn't based on a true story, it would probably be a mediocre movie at best. The historical impact is really what carried my interest.

The Martian: 8-9/10. As I'm sure everyone knows, very good.

War Dogs: 7/10 - Good. Entertaining and any ties to true events only make it better.

Keeping Up with the Joneses: 6/10 - Decent. Kind of corny, but definitely had some laugh out loud moments. Took awhile for the plot to develop.

Started the Revenant and Concussion, but I wasn't able to finish either which is probably most unfortunate for The Revenant because the beginning is tough to stomach.

I've seen both Reacher flicks and while they were definitely worth watching, I wouldn't go out of my way or to the theater to see them. But it's tough for me, since I've read all the Reacher books and in the books Jack Reacher is like 6'5" tall and built. When I first heard Cruise got the role I couldn't help but wonder Lee Child (the Reacher books author) thought about that - I'm sure the zeroes in the check more than made up for it though.

Few documentaries and a comedy special:

"At All Costs" (Netflix) - AAU documentary about youth basketball. Very interesting. It's funny b/c even when I was in HS summer league was a thing, but nothing like they show in this. Good watch overall.

"More Than A Game" (Amazon Prime) - Another hoop documentary... this one about 5 kids from Akron, OH (guess who one is ). Really good watch and it surprised me how much they dug into the other players. Also pretty crazy b/c I remember when ESPN was carrying those games and remember thinking... why is ESPN showing HS basketball? Looking back I'm glad they did b/c apparently someone knew history was being made... so I am happy I could see it unfold.

"Amy Schumer - Leather Special" (Netflix) - OK... had low expectations going in but some of her older stuff made me laugh. Just wanted to watch something basic and funny. Well, look elsewhere. Got about 15-20 min in and stopped playback. It just wasn't funny. I mean I laughed like once or twice, but most of the time it felt like she was just trying to to hard to say dirty things versus making good (or even decent) jokes. Highly (not) recommended.

^ Saw Schumer's HBO commedy special which was mediocre.

One comedian that impressed me who didn't know who she was is Whitney Cummings who had a HBO special last year.
She was really funny and had some relevant social jokes as well. Far better than Schumer.

One comedy series that I highly recommended is Garfunkel and Oates. Only eight episodes before it was cancelled but very witty smart humor on Netflix,

British shows have never tended to go for long seasons. 6-10 episodes typical.

Cummings co-created Two Broke Girls but does not appear to be involved with it these days.
I do agree, the shows pretty bad.
What's ironic is Cummings comedy jokes go against the kind of characters in the show she co-created.
