White House Down was horrible, even if you do shut your brain off.

+1 , totally agree saw it Xmas day. Jeremy Renner, Bradley Cooper, and Lawrence were really good in their roles but Amy Adams and Christian Bale were exceptional with their acting. Also liked Robert De Niro in his brief cameo. Baffled on why Lawrence is getting so much attention?

Also saw White House down, yes a mindless movie but it was good fun action movie. Not worth theater prices but Redbox for sure.

Loved American Hustle!

GF and I just started watching "Orange is the New Black" series on Netflix. It's pretty damn good so far, highly recommend.

Can't wait until season 2 starts. I think it's in mid or late Jan.

You can join the series discussion here: Netflix: Orange Is The New Black

If you like Orange, check out House of Cards too (if you haven't already). I liked season 1. Season 2 of House of Cards starts in Feb, I think.

Speaking of Netflix, I really liked Derek. I'm a ricky gervais fan, and I wish it sees another season.

Netflix:

Blackfish - Documentary about the killer whales at Sea World and the trainers they have attacked and killed.
This fascinating documentary examines the life of performing killer whale Tilikum, who has caused the deaths of several people while in captivity. More Info

Director:

Special Forces - did not have high hopes but it turned out to be REALLY entertaining and very well done.
While covering the war in Afghanistan, journalist Elsa is kidnapped by the Taliban, and a Special Forces team races against time to rescue her. More Info

Starring:
Diane Kruger, Djimon Hounsou
Director:
Stéphane Rybojad

Wanted to see it, till I read how basically everything is wrong in that movie. Basically FAA rules, nonsensical inverted flying..... etc. I only get hung up on technical problems when a movie looks made to not have such errors. I accept the 26mi. long runway in F&F, but do not accept flying a large commercial jet inverted... idk.

I notice netflix is getting some better lesser known movies, in my case scifi. Two cerebral movies you should watch if you're into that sort of thing is "Pi" and "Primer." Both top notch and on netflix.

They also have some cerebral deep space scifi horror, "Event Horizon," "Sunshine," "Pandorum," and "Cargo." Those kind of go in order from great to less great. The first two are required viewing.

I'm going to start watching this one, this week. I just finished binge watching "Game of Thrones," holy crap that show is great! Not on netflix, but it's online. It's like what adult fantasy should be. "Adult" (gratuitous sex every episode) and fantasy(well, it's just awesome).

need to be in a very stable mindset for Pi. I especially liked it since Aronofsky made it, first film and he raised the money from the community for it... Cost: $16,000. Idk, thought it was very dark, but good.

Primer took me a good day of thinking to realized wtf happened, such a simple movie and was the single most confusing time travel movie ever.

I'll add a few titles that were similar
"The Exam" very surprising
"Solaris," not the crappy new one, the 70's Russian version. What a head trip, kind of felt like "Event Horizon" when things start really moving.

Just watched Food, Inc. and Blackfish...both were very interesting! Unfortunately now I want to burn my SeaWorld annual pass and never shop at Publix again.

I'm now working on Breaking Bad...just a few shows into season 1 and looking forward to more.

Now if I can just get my damn Samsung Blu Ray player to stream in HD!

Just completed my first official Netflix Binge this weekend.

Watched the (cancelled) series "The Assets" about the Aldrich Ames spy scandal in the CIA.

It was fantastic. HIGHLY recommended.

8 ~40min episodes and a "real story behind" episode that is worth watching as well.

NBC programming.

Check out the movie The Rover. I enjoyed it a lot. Pattenson played his character extremely well.

Dude Parks and Rec is one of the funniest shows on TV. I agree that NBC dramas are usually meh but Spader kills it.

that's what I did for the first 4 seasons, then I had to wait every week for S5.
Since they finally announced the series finale of Sons of Anarchy is in December, I will begin binge watching around Nov.

I've just seen Zodiac, someone recommend it on this site in another thread. I really like that movie, I love mystery movies. I've seen a documentary on this subject a few years ago. Any good mystery out there that you guys recommend?
