The Oregon Coast is now under a tsunami warning. It's scheduled to hit around 7:30 this morning and I think evacuations are set to begin there soon. Thankfully the coast range separates Portland from the ocean but still, this could hit closer to home than anybody would like.

IF A TSUNAMI WAS GENERATED...THE INITIAL WAVE ARRIVAL WOULD BEGIN
WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF THE ESTIMATED ARRIVAL TIMES LISTED BELOW:

Any ways, two of my friends are in Japan right now. One is in the Navy deployed to Afghan. He's on R&R right now in Japan and my other friend joined him on his R&R to keep him company. They are fine for now but don't know how they're fighting through the floods.

I just got in contact with a friend of mine that lives on the southern side of Honolulu, he said people are going mad, scrambling for water etc. I really hope the waves in HI are not bad/ dont do much damage.
I also have family in the Philippines, my heart and prayers go out to them, I'm guessing it will be days before I know what happens there, as communication was already pretty difficult.
It's going to be hard to sleep tonight.

I'm really not too worried about hte west coast of the US, maybe there might be some property damage at max, but Im not worried for anyone's health.

they are saying the wave that hit Wake was only about a foot. That give me some hope, but the scientist also say the waves may react differently depending on the ocean floor. I'm like 3 blocks from the beach.... but not in an inundation zone, but pretty close.

Hope the Tsunami will be really small when it gets to hawaii and westcost. Stay safe Rick. I hope the casualty stays low in japan and I hope they have a fast recovery.

wow watching TV, they showed the water recede what looked like 100 feet out and a LOT of exposed coral. Just came back in slowly, but looks like we're in the middle of whatever we're going to get. Supposedly the largest wave could come anytime within the next 2 or so hours.

so far so good in Hawaii, but will be watching all morning. I think we're around the 3rd or 4th wave, only see a few foot sea level change so far. I found out my family in Japan is safe, but they're all pretty far south of the epicenter.

wow, but it is true what the news reporters are saying. Japan is lucky it happened in the best possible area of the country, could have been much worse for the magnitude of it. Be careful for those in Japan and west coast/pacific.
