I will be keeping mine. I buy stuff from there very often.

Did anybody see about the lawsuits saying they deceptively price Prime items so it's not really free shipping? Curious to see how that turns out.
I haven't seen this but I normally price check everything I buy at several places and the prime prices are almost always cheaper on the stuff I buy before even considering shippign costs at the other sites.

This was brought up years ago so I started checking prices of what it would cost if I was logged in with my prime account vs if I was going to buy an item and pay for the shipping. Never saw a price higher for a prime account.

It would be way too apparent to the public if true... IMO.

I'll keep my free super-saver. I would not be surprised if that was next to go. Then I may consider prime. However, I don't think I even order enough a year to justify $100 up front. I already give Netflix $8 for their stream.

Apparently they're telling vendors to charge more to make up for free shipping, negating some of the "freeness" that you pay for with Prime. I always figured they did that, I still comparison shop but normally go with Amazon out of convenience/"free" shipping.

I'm done with them. I just got off the phone for the SECOND time today with issues on two separate orders. The first they simply never shipped. The second was a dewalt case that includes two drawers. Those drawers lock in place with hooks that snap onto tabs in the case. 3 of the 4 tabs were broken off and completely missing. The tabs were not in the case nor were they in the box, so it shipped that way. The case had no tags or anything on it indicating it was actually a used and/or returned item. It has scratches and is dirty. I got a second case that had a tag and was clean with no issues. I am not going to send my money to them so they can keep fucking up.

When my mom subscribed to Amazon Prime a few years ago, she was able to give it to several other people to try for one year, I was one of them. I've had it for 2-3 years now and I've never paid for it

You're allowed to share the shipping perks with one other household. The streaming stuff you're not suppose too although it can be done as well.

We are suckers and pay for Prime. It's been handy since the twins were born, and since now you can use the Amazon Prime app on the Xbox without having an Xbox Live Gold membership, we've started watching more Prime content (we don't subscribe to Netflix or any other streaming service). So, it's not a total loss.

I will admit that the 2 day shipping has us spoiled. When we order things from other sites, day 3 rolls around and we're like "where the heck is my order?!"

I've had pretty good luck with Amazon when orders have become screwed up. *knocks on wood*

You might want to check your credit card statements. They automatically charge you once a year to renew without saying anything.

Prime is definitely worth the price. You can't beat free two day shipping and $5 one day shipping.

I receive an e-mail every year a little less than two months before the renewal advising me of the renewal and how to not renew if I want to discontinue membership.

Go to your account and Manage Prime Membership. It will tell you something like:

Quote:
Hello David,

Primary member: Sarah

This membership will expire on September 02, 2015 unless the primary member decides to extend it.
In my case, I used to authorize Prime for my GF, but I never used the streaming service, just the shipping, so I gifted Prime to her and she authorized shipping for me and she uses the shit out of the Prime videos.

But if you're authorized, yeah you won't have to pay as long as the primary owner keeps it active.

I'd consider but we get taxed. I don't buy enough and have Netflix. If they had streaming music service in line with Spotfiy than take my money.

I use it frequently, my wife uses it and we can write it off on our taxes. It easily pays for itself by the end of the first month.

I cannot stress enough how good Amazon's customer service is. I had an issue with a Garment Steamer that never worked-- they told me that they're sorry and that I can do whatever I want with the Steamer and they will refund the full amount. Steamfast (the product manufacturer never contacted me for warranty repair in 2 months after several request so I contacted Amazon for support).

Every Time I have an issue they fix it promptly and efficiently. Though I've only had 2-3 hiccups out of the 100+ items I've purchased the past couple years, they have handled it better than ANY merchant/retailer I've ever dealt with.

Amazon will continue to have my business until that changes. I started on buying shoes, and clothing more often on Amazon as I usually buy them at the mall/department even if they cost a few bucks more.

I love Prime. I almost won't order anything off Amazon anymore if it isn't Prime. I ordered razor blades the other day and got 8 for the price that I would have paid for 4 in the grocery store. I ordered them right in front of the razor display in the store. One click shopping ftw.

I'm kind of pissed at Amazon UK. I had ordered a bluray and it was due a week ago. You can't track it but I already reported on Friday that I haven't gotten it yet and no response.

Reported earnings today. A lot of people signing up for Prime (despite price increase from $79 to $99), with more room to grow.

Amazon Delivers Bigger-Than-Expected Profit - WSJ

Quote:
Amazon Delivers Bigger-Than-Expected Profit

For Amazon Prime, the $99 annual membership program, world-wide paid membership jumped 53% last year—50% in the U.S. and at a slightly faster rate internationally, the company said Thursday. Mr. Szkutak declined to give specific numbers, but analysts estimate there around 40 million Prime members world-wide.

“When a customer becomes a Prime member, they do step up their purchases very considerably,” he said. By some estimates, Prime members spend as much as three times what non-Prime members do.

Holy carp, I probably can't afford Prime membership if I end up spending 3 times what I did with Amazon before Prime.

I love Amazon prime. I've got 2 fulfillment centers within 45 minutes from my house and a UPS DC a mile from my house. I've gotten "Free 2 day shipping" items in under 24 hours.
