05 AT TL vs 04 AT Maxima vs 14 Fiesta st
Next week will be the first time taking my tl to the track and im going to race against my two friends. The st has bov only, the maxima exhaust and i consider my tl stock even though i removed the intake resonator and the mid muffler. I think the maxima is the only one i need to worry but dont want to underestimate the st either.

If the Maxima is a SE (5AT) then it will be a close run. He may edge you out. If it is a SL (4AT) then I think you will have the edge. Good luck. The ST driven properly is a high 14 second car, but it is hard to achieve that time. You will take the ST IMO. I also work at a ford dealer and am in the sales dept. so I have a lot of drive time in the ST

I would put my $$ on the Maxima but it wouldn't surprise me to see the TL come out on top. Also, I agree with Satin regarding the ST.

So we ran two hits and i lost on both. I was really disapointed because I was skeptic about the horror stories about auto transmissions when drag racing but they are true. I did my best; vsa off, auto stick, press brake and rev it. The thing is that the car didn't let me rev more than 2k rpm so each start was really slow and the maxima jumped right away pulling one car ahead and stayed the same to the finish line. My best time was 16.8, I don't know if it is because sea level (3600 ft aprox) but I was faster back on my old mk4 gli (15.9).
After the second run we left the track and I told my friend about doing some pulls at the highway from 20 to 80 just to verify that the auto trans was the problem so we did a couple of runs. I was impressed to see the difference because at 20 miles and second gear I could pull away from him easily. We stopped at 80 miles but I'm sure the gap would've increased if we kept going.

Tip: if you just paste the YouTube link it will automatically add the video.
But damn that's slow, my buddies stock Si did a whole second faster.
The 3.2 isn't terribly slow as you can see by your highway pulls.
Without brake torquing or launching, even with miss shifts I managed to hit a 14.5. I think something is up, did you shift manually?

Yes, thats what I thought too, so thats why we tried those highway pulls to prove it and my Tl ended up being way faster tan the Maxima.

Your problem is brake torquing. You want to avoid that at all costs. The torque converter doesn't respond well to it. just floor it from a stop. that will yield your best 60ft time. Now on the maxima, brake torquing is the way to go as the torque converter responds well to it. Run him again at the track and try the new method. You will see a huge difference.

All motor
2.95 60' yikes lol....nice job beating him from a roll though. Next time just mash the gas as already mentioned. Even if you drop that 60' to a 2.3 you will shave ~1 full second off your time.
