05 Base 6 speed vs 07 Auto TL type S

Sorry if this story has been beaten to death but just giving input on a back country road test against my brothers 07 auto type S. The location we ran them in is a remote safe country road location that has been infamous for 1/4 mile runs. After purchasing my base 6speed I then drove it to my brothers and he was curious on how quick it was. He hopped in the passenger seat to see how hard my TL pulls in Vtec so I went on a little spin. After showing him the pull he told me it definitely pulls harder than my old 2006 civic si which I've ran against his Auto TL type S before. The outcome of those backroad runs had him pull away in 3rd every time. When I dropped him back off he wanted to run against my TL. Still as a beginner in this car we did 4 runs. The first run I definitely peeled out a little too much being the first time launching the car and he had me by a car length til 70mph then let off. 2nd run I launched hard and stayed ahead by 1-1.5 cars til 100mph. 3rd run I launched prettty good and jumped a car length ahead off the dig and continued to keep pulling. 4th and final run was on a roll and after the 3rd honk my car pulled away from him more and more the faster we went. This car has definitely surprised me, being new to this 6 speed it still manages to pull from an 07 auto Type S on every run. By the way he has a cold air intake and mine is bone stock.

There is a video on youtube a match between an 04-06 MT vs TL-S AT, the TL-S pull on low but after 3rd shifted the MT TL starting to walk away.

Woot 6spd FTW. People really underestimate this car. Its not gods gift to the automotive world but the autos having such a reputation for being slow gives TLs a pass from most people, which leaves the manuals for us to enjoy!

Good run since MT is > AT unless it is DSG or some performance AT.

My money still on the 07 -08 tls because you can install hondata. So if you ever want to go supercharger or turbo it is so much easier to do for tuning

the problem is that the TL-S does not realty have a significant jump in power vs the 6MT...and the extra 16HP is offset by the increased weight of the car.... It's not like the 2nd Gen TL vs the Type S where there was a very noticeable 35hp difference...

not sure where you got 16 but its more like 28hp difference at the crank.. 258 vs 286

Yeah I forgot about the re-rate the car was originally spec'd at 270 but regardless the point remains not a significant bump in power considering the weight increase of the type S with the cladding, etc... the weight difference between the original TL and Type S was negligible...
