I own both these cars and finally got around to going head to head. On a private road I drove the G and a friend piloted the CL which has all the basic mods and will run 14.2's all day.

From a dig I had the CL by 2 cars as the Acura had some wheelspin off the line. And by 100 it increased to 3 cars plus. The G37 from from a standing start is very quick and the top end is very strong. We had several runs and from a 30 mph roll the Acura stayed within half a car to 90 before the G pulled away with ease.

My son has an 06 GTO and my G are both faster but nothing sounds better than the angry bellow from the CLs at full throttle......

Nice. I'm dying to run a G37, but I never run into them, or even G35s for that matter. Had an '07-08 G35 sedan with Florida plates get on the freeway behind me, then next thing I know, he's flying by me at 90-100. Wasn't about to chase after him and try to get him to run.

I used to eat G35's alive with my CLs..especially after the header install. On one particular run off an entrance ramp I pursued a G35 stick at 50mph and had him by 3 cars by 90mph...Stock v stock a CLs is quicker than a G35 from 20-90. I's off the line where the Infinits have an edge.

The G37 has great low end accel and from 80mph will scream to 150
+ with ease.

Nice. I just sold my 06 G35 with full bolt-ons and got a G37 7AT. The G37 stock is about the same as my G35 off a 2nd gear roll to about 100 but then the 37 will pull away easily. Its incredible how much stronger the VQ37 is than the VQ35DE.

I dig the sarcasm they're not fast. Just fast relative to certain cars. My friend's FBO / JB4 335i is fast.

It was fast back when him and I first ran a couple years ago! Hahaha. What's up Hektik, I'm happy to see that you ended up modding the bimmer, that's cool man.

I think a stock '37 sedan is decently quick for what it is. I've managed to surprise myself as well as other cars more than a few times.

The Nissan 7AT paired with the VQ37VHR is a good combo. I have a 370z (6MT) and the 7AT is faster to 60 and the 1/4 mile.

Nissan and Toyota have been making strong automatics for years, but at least it looks like Honda's now on the right track. The 9G Accord coupe with the 6AT is stout, but probably still a tick slower than the 6MT. At least it's better than the disparity used to be.
