Rear E-Brake Starwheel Adjuster is frozen/stuck Issue
Hi Guys,
Over the weekend, I replaced both rear calipers, rotors, and pads. While I was taking out the passenger side rear rotor, I neglected to backoff the the star wheel adjuster before taking the rotor out. As I was removing the rotor, the shoes were still grabbing the rotor but it still came out. Well, after putting everything back together, I tried to adjust the star wheel but it won't move. This only happened to the Passenger side. The Driver Side star wheel adjuster works and the emergency brakes still engages on both rear wheels if I engage the E-Brake Pedal from inside of the car.
I've tried PB Blaster but the star wheel still won't budge. I even tried with a needle nose plier with the ROTOR off (hub still in place), and the star wheel still won't budge.
Is there a way that I can remove the hub so that I can access and view the E-Brake system? I've never done this before, but it looks like I will need an impact wrench to move that giant hub bolt. If there are other options that I can try without removing the hub, that would be even better.
Thanks in advance for your help guys.

No need to remove hub to change star adjuster. Just take the brake shoes off. The brake shoes is what holds the star adjuster on.
I recommend OEM star adjuster parts... you want it to fit perfectly. You do not want to be held up in the middle of a brake job.
TIP: Before doing the above, first take a photo of the e-brake assy for re-assembly reference.

Thanks. I will give it a shot. Never messed with brake shoes before. Found the following DIY which I will use: https://acurazine.com/forums/second-...-brake-920665/
Thanks again for the advice.

Yes but minimal like the above. Basically a brake shoe release, star adjuster/flat screw driver, spring puller/slider-install/needle nose plier-locking, tools... Etc.
Thats why I'd recommend video DIY over Threads/pic DIY. In video you will see how and what tools is being use. For knowledge base you can watch any drum brake DIY.

Just curious before I tackle this over the weekend...can the star wheel adjuster be removed if I just unlatch the spring that is right in front of it? Would prefer not to remove the entire shoe assembly if it's at all possible. Making me nervous.

In this case I would say yes, you can just remove the spring and spread the shoes apart to get it out. At least give that a try first and then go to plan B if it doesn't work.
Plan B would be to loosen just one brake shoes... etc.

Here's the deal. There are many ways to do the same thing, depends on your skill level, experience, tools- correct/incorrect, and even how creative you're. And in some cases how desperate. Lol. Improvising goes a long way but, you need to understand the concept of the repair. On the flip side if you the right tool for job, correct parts, and knowledge, it takes longer to jack the car up than to actually change the part.

Thanks again aznboi2424. I was able to remove the adjuster and fix it after taking both shoe out along with the springs. It was much easier than anticipated and I did not use any special tools.
