2004 key fob not working

I have a 2004 Acura tsx. The key fob battery was dying so I replaced it. I know the hand book says to use a CR2025 battery. I bought a Duracell DL2025 battery to replace it with. Now the key fob won't work at all. The red light won't even light up and I can't hear any form of clicking from the locks when the buttons are pressed. Is the battery I used not the same as the CL2025? I'm not sure what to do right now because I can't even reprogram since nothing happens when I press the buttons (no red light or clicking sounds). If anyone has any ideas please share!

Are you sure that you put the battery in the correct way? Even if it wasn't paired to the car the LED on the FOB should work.

It is definitely an issue with the FOB. I guess there is always a possibility that you had a battery that DOA.

Agree, there are a limited number of things that could be going on here. My guess is either the battery is not compatible (I'll let the OP do the leg work on that), it's installed upside down (my guess), or the new battery was DOA (highly unlikely in this day and age). It's not rocket science.

This was too easy to not do, so . . . the only difference between a CR2025 and a DL 2025 is the latter is a Duracell battery. They use their own prefix because . . . they can. Oh, and there's no need to reprogram these fobs. They're strictly plug and play.

I have checked and double checked my battery. The positive side is facing down and the negative side is facing upwards towards the half of the key fob that houses the buttons, just as indicated inside the key fob. I even reversed sides just for kicks, still no light. Maybe I will buy another battery and try it. If by some chance I have to buy a new fob how much are they and is there a place that potentially sells them less than a dealer, as I know dealers can be expensive.

Just something else to check.

Your battery prongs/contacts on the fob still look okay. Not missing or bent the wrong way?

If you have a multimeter you could quickly check the battery too.
