Trunk Issue

My trunk won't open with the remote or with the dash button. I checked the valet switch and everything is normal. I removed my rear seat and opened the trunk manually with the emergency release. Once opened, I tested the trunk several times with both buttons and it seemed to be ok. It then stopped working again. I ordered a new actuator/ trunk release and I still have the same problem. Does any one else have any ideas of what the problem could be?

Probably the wiring harness-- see: https://acurazine.com/forums/problem...t-open-758591/.

Not sure if its the harness because when the i open the trunk manually, if i leave the lid open and use the key fob and the dash button, the latch works fine. Its only when it is closed that the button don't work.

^ Then it's most likely an alignment issue. The striker to latch is binding so it can't pop up when release.

Close the trunk slowly. Does the the trunk shift to one side a little? If so it's out of adjustment.

Now look at the trunk when it's close. Is it center in the opening? If it is then you need to move the lid in the direction it's shifting. To adjust simply push the lid from the side of the car while the lid is in the full open position (making sure the lid is not going to scratch the quarter panel). It helps to loosen the outer lid mounting bolts (the ones closer to the rear of the car).

If the lid is not center then move the striker to the middle untill the lid is centered in the opening. To adjust the striker just loosen the striker bolts and shift it towards the center. If it's minor then try tapping it with a hammer to bend it slighly in the direction it's needed. Then adjust the lid as above to follow the striker.

LOL it just occure to me that maybe it just needs a little lube so it will unlatch. Try a little spray lubricant on the latch and striker first before doing the above.

Ok, so i checked the striker, i adjusted it in the three positions, no luck. I checked the trunk springs and everything looks normal. I even changed the valet switch and still no luck. When I use the remote I hear a clicking noise near the dash button, not sure what this means. Anyone else have any other possible solutions?

Did you check the fuse?

You should test the power and ground at the trunk actuator. Find the associated ground and clean it. It's in the trunk some where on the left side.

Please clarify what the problem is? I'm a little confused... you're saying it's working when open and not when close... changed switch and trunk actuator?

Do this test... with the trunk close, pull up on the trunk lightly while you or someone else pushes the release button; next try using remote... does it open or not?

The actuator seems to work when the trunk is open, if i use the remote, but when the trunk is closed, nothing happens. I just her a click by the dash board. I have tried pushing down on the trunk and have also tried pulling up on it while pressing the button with no luck. I did check the fuse, #8 , and it seems fine.

If solenoid does not work... replace it.

I replaced the whole latch assembly which includes the solenoid. As for the fuse, I meant its not burnt. If it where none of my locks would work.

Take a look through this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/problem...t-open-758591/.

It'll mention why the trunk lock/unlock seems to work with the trunk lid open when the some of the wiring in the wiring harness has worn, too.

^ I agree, seems like you have a loose connection inside the deck lid. Take the trim panel off and inspect the wire loom section at the deck lid. Look for bare wire, frayed wire, etc, especially where it flexes or at sharp edges.

You might want to test for power and ground at latch, main switch, and at the valet switch.

Make sure the valet switch is set to the on position.

Thanks for the input guys. I actually took my trunk apart again to look at the wire loom for any damage. From what I can see, everything looks in tact. Like I said before, My valet switch and trunk latch assembly are both new. I will have to test for continuity next. I also will check the rest of the wire loom that goes through the car.
