Please help immediately

I have a 2005 acura TL and today it seems like it wants to act up. It has 74xxx miles on it and it's an auto. The problem is that all of sudden the idle drops to 500 rpm or so when braking and also in park. Feels as if the car is going to stall. The check engine light did also flash on and it seems like the car lost power. During acceleration, the RPM does not seem to want to move much (very slow) but the MPH does move normally. Also after turning the car off, it seems like the car is having a hard time turning on. Oh and the engine is vibrating now with the drops in RPM. Is this a misfire? Bad spark plugs? Thanks for all the input guys.

Get the CEL with an OBD2 reader.

Immediate help is here

Avoid driving it. Could be anything, a code reader will tell you. Have a friend bring a code reader and find out what the problem is.

agreed with these two gentlemen above me.

the symptoms you described literally can be anything.
have the codes read with an OBDII reader and report back with the EXACT codes. these codes will tell you exactly whats wrong with the car

also make sure your egr valve isn't stuck open by a rock of carbon. it's a very easy check and is two bolts. i had major idle issues and my car was behaving super bad, turned out it was a piece of carbon holding the valve open. i just knocked out the carbon rock in the parking lot and everything was back to normal. just search for "egr valve"

Thanks. I did try to search for the EGR valve but did not get much luck. Where is the EGR valve located?

from searching (always search from google, such as "egr valve carbon site:acurazine.com"...once you put "site:acurazine.com you get specific results for our forum):

Hey,

I had such issues. Because i'm not good enough to pinpoint the problem, I just went from least expensive to more expensive. I started cleaning out the EGR valve. Very easy to do, no need to replace. Just get carb cleaner and new EGR gasket and take it out, poor a little carb cleaner into a small plastic container, let it soak 30 minutes and then brush off deposits with plastic brush, let dry and put it back. Done in less than 1 hour, Cost about 20$ and it sure in hell made a significant difference, much smoother idles, less vibrations and car doesn't jump from 500 to 1200 rpm randomly anymore. I still had some vibrations issues after that but they were solved when replacing my motor mounts.

Thanks guys for all the help. The culprit was in fact a tiny piece of carbon wedged in the EGR valve. I removed the carbon and changed out all of the spark plugs just for maintenance purposes. Car runs awesome again.

Correct torqueing of the plugs is essential in the J32. Did you use a torque wrench? Did you use anti-seize?
