Hood Strut Support Replacement
Just wanted to quickly post about hood strut support replacement.
If your hood is not staying up when you open it please don't have your dealer replace them for you! They charge around $200 for something that costs about $43 and about 15 minutes of your time.
Ive looked online for he replacement parts and found that if you go to your local auto store, the price is pretty competitive(i went to pep boys - they had to place a special order since they didnt have them in stock but i paid up front and picked them up a week later) pep boys has them under SG365001 which are the Stabilus brand for $19.99 each (just get 2 and be done with it).
Only tools you need (and you could probably get by without it) is a few flat head screw drivers to help you remove the old ones. Just remove one connection at a time so you dont forget the orientation for the new replacements. I can post photos if needed.

2007 TL Hood Strut question
I have somewhat of an odd question if anyone can help me out. I bought an 07 TL that didn't have any hood struts on it when I bought it, so I decided to buy more while I was at the auto parts store, and much to my surprise when I opened hood, the pieces of hardware they connect to are also missing. I've been wearing Google and this forum out but I have no idea what to even call them or how I would go about ordering more.
Also my apologies for reviving such an old thread, but I felt like that was probably better than starting a new thread for such a trivial question. Thanks in advance if anyone can help me figure this out.

There should just be little "ball studs" #26 that the hood strut attaches to:

Are you saying the balls aren't there?

Shipping from Rock Auto was the deal breaker for me. I ended up getting mine from Amazon.
