Hi everyone I'm owner of Acura TL 07 type S..
Last week I changed oil and other stuffs like air filter and oil filter.. and noticed baaaad thing... I've got oil leak near time belt and oil filter

what could be reason for that ? Is it oil pump ?

You need to take a look above that, it is wet on the block. Most common problem is oil pump seal leaking or the VTEC gasket.

^^^ x2. IMO, that area can best be seen by pulling the front passenger wheel and looking in from the wheel well.

Always follow a fluid leak to the top most point. If on front of engine where fan is then it could be a little more difficult.
Get some brake cleaner and clean the entire area and use compressed air to dry it. Then drive for a little while and recheck.

My money is on the oil plug either missing a washer or not being tightened enough. That picture sure seems to indicate the plug to me. I had a similar pattern when I had a EZDrain oil plug in my car that leaked. If you didn't see this pattern when you changed the oil and now you do that is a huge indicator of what changed most recently being a suspect in your problem.

LCR, not likely. It is soaking wet high above the drain plug, oil does drip up and to the side.

Did you check your oil level before you drained it??? I have gotten into that habit.
I always check the oil for level, smell and color before an oil change.
That way if its low or abnormal in any way I can investigate further.

It is def not the drain plug although make sure to use a new crush washer every time. I found 30 Honda OEM oil filters and crush washers on ebay for 100.00 shipped.
You need to investigate higher up on the back side of the engine.

I would def spray clean with brake cleaner or carb cleaner and let dry. Then start looking for moisture.

I guess that oil leaking is not usually. it's leaking sometimes.. I think it should be vtec solenoid... do some one had same problems ?

If you want to go even further, on my trucks I used to use a bit of baby powder in the suspect areas. Oil hits it and it's fairly obvious where it's leaking from after driving a bit. Just my opinion, good luck. Tracking down oil leaks are never that enjoyable...

I just changed the VTEC gaskets on my Odyssey. There is a larger gasket between the engine block and oil filter housing base. A smaller o ring between the pressure switch and housing. Three 12 mm bolts hold it to the block.

If it is the power steering pump you should be able to tell by checking the fluid level, it would be low.

Also if it was low enough you'll hear the power steering whine when you turn the steering wheel close to the locks on either side.

You can see if air is getting in the power steering system by starting the car, turn the wheels side to side, shut it off and check the power steering fluid. If you see a lot of bubbles in it there's a leak somewhere.

It's only a couple bucks for all the O-rings and a few hours of your time to change them out in the power steering pump and there is a DIY for doing that and replacing all of the fluid in the 3G TL garage:

I actually just did mine last week.

Changing the O-rings, if it is the pump, is a lot better than the $200 some for a reman'd pump.

any update on this?

I just took my car to the dealer to get the power steering lines fixed/recall that I found when I looked my vin# up on the owners site. The service tech called me back and informed me of an engine block bolt that was leaking a small amount of oil. Upon questioning what it was the description was a bit foggy.

I told him to hold off and take a picture of where it is and I'll investigate further when I get my vehicle back. This is something I'm going to tackle since he quoted me over $300 to fix it - mostly labor "WOW" i said. He said they have to drop the exhaust and underbelly to get at it. Said they remove the bolt and use liquid gasket to seal. Sounds fishy to me but could be on the up and up? We'll see...............

bringin it back. The OP didn't respond to my PM, can anyone chime in on whether this tends to be typical of the oil pump leaking or the front main seal.
Also, per some of the threads I checked the PCV valve by shaking it and I can hear a faint click. How loud should it be?
Car has 85k mi and just started loosing oil. First noticed the oil burning smell symptom while making a pass on the freeway. Consumption seems to increase with hard driving and visually looks the same as the OP picture with oil evidence coming from the timing belt/oil pump area.

Does it? I didn't think so... the car I just bought had it done while I was waiting for an hour when I picked it up.

Maybe I'm wrong and they did it before I picked it up but they acted like it wasn't a major deal. They replaced the oil pump seal and put some honda bond on it and called it a day.
