Hey guys I have an 07 TL base and my leather has started to crack bad on my front seats for some reason. I tried using Lexol cleaner/conditioner and it made the cracks worse and even changed the color of my leather. Have you guys ever done any leather refinishing or know of any places/products that would help fix this? I want to solve this problem before it has a chance to get any worse. Any input is appreciated!

If it's on the side bolsters (where most of the cracking occurs) that isn't leather. Only the perforated part of the seat is leather. These seats pretty much suck all around. Not much you can do besides replacing them or having an upholstery shop recover them. Big money either way.

I have cracks and rips on my 2006 TL, upon giving it to my daughter, I brought seat covers from Groupon for $27 this past weekend and they fit beautifully. I know, but redoing the leather would cause me $1200.

I got perforated leather hyde from ebay to match my interior, cut out a very carefully measured piece and just glued it on top so that the corners go into stitching grooves. Worked flawlessly.

Cost me around 40 for leather (got enough to do both front seats perforated parts) and glue and 2-3 hours of work.

Can you give me a link to the leather you found on ebay? I also have a ripped drivers seat bottom and I'm looking to find some leather that matches it (light grey).

Can you also post some pictures of the seats and how they look after being glued on?

If you care about the car, and plan on keeping it, just take the seat out and get it redone. problem solved till the end of time, or you can keep gluing it together every month or so.

Mine has like 4 significant tears in it, and the foam in a couple areas is kind of messed up. A new seat cover and cushion is like $700 from Acura just for the parts.

I'm going to a upholster in town and see what they would charge to have it redone. I'll see how much I can save if I remove the seat bottom myself versus them just doing it. I heard taking the seat out on these cars isn't that hard but actually taking the seat apart is kind of a nightmare with all of the clips ect.

Sucks that Acura used such shity material on these seats. My POS grand prix's leather was WAY better/stronger than this Acura. And it was older with more miles!

I got the perferated part of both front seats done for $240 leather was used.
It's worth the cost if you plan on having your car for awhile

Got a quote from the local upholstery guy here in town. $165 to put new perforated vinyl (identical in color) bottom on the drivers seat and he's going to fix the padding throughout the whole seat. Only the bottom of the seat (and padding) is bad. I just have to take the seat out and drop it off to him, said he can get it done in a day.

Seems like a good price to me so I'm going to do it. I'll take pictures of before and after. The passenger seat bottom was replaced when we bought the car (with vinyl) and its still in great shape.

Always cheaper to go local to fix seats.

I've seen the front two seats patched, cracks fixed, etc... for <$500 easily.
