Can't open trunk (remote, interior, or emergency release)

So I feel like an asshat. I finished dynamat'ing half of my trunk lid, late last night and forgot to check that the trunk release worked b4 I slammed the thing shut.

I assume I cut or melted one of the wires that activates the trunk release because when I push the interior release button, I don't hear anything (no click or mechanical sound attempt to open the trunk.)

Here's my request/plea: Can someone please show me the location of the trunk release handle inside the trunk? I would prefer it be taken from pass through so as to better help me orient myself. Here is a picture of mine. I have a big ass sub box blocking my view/entry into the trunk.

If I am unable reach the trunk release lever, would my next option be removing the back seats?

Thanks in advance for help numbnutz.

Is your battery dead or close to it from having your trunk open while working on your Dynamat. That would be my guess (trunk light drained battery).

Here's the manual trunk release. It's a rubber handle you pull down. Located through the backseat armrest at the top of the trunk, slightly to the left when reaching in.

Thanks guys! Damn I wish I knew that secondary release lever was there! I knew there was the manual release on the trunk itself and that was the one I ended up using...had to remove the back seat to get better access and a long breaker bar. Oh well, was considering doing dynamat under the rear seats anyway. Guess that finalized my decision.

So I think I found my culprit looks like 3 wires got severed.....
<a href="http://s1083.photobucket.com/user/Scott_Buzard/media/wire8_zps3fstxvtl.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j400/Scott_Buzard/wire8_zps3fstxvtl.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo wire8_zps3fstxvtl.jpg"/></a>

Now the question is, what is the easiest say to repair the damage? Just cut the whole set of wires and reconnect using jumper wires? Thanks again!

best way is to solder back all damaged connections and shrink tube over it, then zip tie back the harness as necessary.
