2007 Acura TL Type S - Heater

Hey Guys -

The heater on my 07 Acura doesn't work. It worked last year. I had a mechanic look at it and I'm hoping for some suggestions, before taking apart the entire dashboard to replace the heater core. Excuse my lack of terminology as I'm not knowledgeable in car parts.
  • AC works
  • Heater turns on but blows cold air
  • Thermostat has been replaced
  • Coolant/Anti-freeze has been drained and replaced/filled
  • The small lever in the engine compartment does go up/down when changing the temp from cool to warm
  • The small part by the passenger side, under the dash does change when turning on the heater and changing from cool to warm (firewall?)
What I know so far is, that there are two hoses that go from the engine compartment to the inside of the car. One is extremely hot and one is semi cold. I'm told this is the hose that is responsible for getting heat into the car. The temp on that hose (at operating temp) is the same temp as the air coming into the car. Semi warm, but definitely not heat.

Any suggestions? Do I actually need to replace the heater core and take apart the entire dash?

ok before you replace the whole heater core makes sure you do the following. I highly doubt its the heater core need replace and yes if the heater core need to replace (if its leaks) the whole dash need to come out.

1. Flush the radiator core with compressor air (Eric the car guy) has a DIY video on this.

2. The lever you describe is called water valve actuator it regulate how much hot coolant allow into the heater core, on the out side it might looks perfect but on the inside the valve construct by plastic. over time the plastic might be deteriorate and the plastic valve broke off.

Thank you so much. I'll try your suggestions, before replacing the heater core.
