2005 Acura TL "Horn Stop" fuse keep blowing short somewhere
Ok so the first time my fuse blew, the "Horn Stop" fuse the tail lights stop working when i press the brake and vsa light came on. I replaced the fuse and it worked for a day. It blew again but the vsa light didn't come on anymore. how do i figure out where the short is??? where do i start?

Do you have any electrical mods? Remote start, LED or lighting mods?
It might be in the steering wheel coil (probably not the correct term)....Seems like I remember reading about a few people what had to replace this part due to shorts...Did you use the horn at all?
We're talking about fuse #13 in the under hood fuse box, correct? You replaced it with a 20A fuse, correct?
It controls: brake lights, ECM/PCM, High mount brakelight, MICU, Horn relay, horns.

No electric mods, everything is stock, no remote start or lighting mods. The first two times it went out i hadn't used the horn, After i changed it the third time, i pressed the horn to make sure it was working. I'm going to do some research on the steering wheel coil, if you go through those previous post please send me the link. thanks for the help. oh yeah and yes I'm talking about fuse #13 under the hood fuse box. and yes i replaced with 20A fuse.

Sadly, this may be the thread I was vaguely remembering:

Put a new fuse in, do nothing else but honk the horn. Does the fuse blow?
Couple of thoughts:
1. Do you have any moisture on the passenger side carpet up near the firewall? AC drain hoses have been known to plug and the backed up water drips down and fries the ECM. Doubt it's this, I'd think you'd have many other problems if it was the ECM being fried.
2. Any water/moisture in your tail lights?
3. Possibly faulty horn relay?
4. Short in horn wiring in the steering wheel?

thanks, i just bought some fuses today, i'm to put the fuse in tomorrow and honk a couple of times to see if the fuse blows. if it does, then i'm going to disconect one horn to see if blows, and then the other.

sorry wrong diagram. So if the fuse keeps blowing without pressing the horn it can't be a bad ground on the horn right. because the horn doesn't get current until i push the horn, right?

Well the other diagram keeps changing everytime i open the thread so i'm going to try to post it a different way. I dont really understand but i get some of it. To my understanding the horns don't have current until i push the horn button on the steering wheel. So if the fuse blows without pressing it, i'm guessing the horn ain't the object drawing to much current. I need help on deciding what the next step is.

Drive to an empty parking lot. Leave the car running in neutral with p-brake on. Check to make sure fuse is still good. Get back in and without touching the brake pedal, release the p-brake, put the car in gear and start slowly driving (5 mph or less), do not touch the brake pedal or honk the horn. Move the steering wheel left and right to the stops a few times. Bring the car to a stop using the p-brake. Check the fuse. If it's blown, I'd say you have a short in the cable reel.
You've replaced the brake light switch, so probably can rule that out.
What about moisture in the tail lights? Did you rule that out?

yeah i don't have moisture in the tail lights. okay this is what i got. I changed the fuse honked like 20 times fuse still working, drove around for like 20 miles in the street using lots of brake and fuse still working because i could see the third brake light on. but when i got home i was stepping on the brake and my girl push the horn and it blew instantly. Is it possible that i will only blow when the brake and horn are applied at the same time? should i try again? just the horn a couple of times to see if it blows, then the brake, and then both at the same time? if it is both at the same time what could it be??

ok so i haven't been able to find the problem and yesterday when i was driving in the rain, my tires spin coming out of a driveway and my fuse blew again. i didn't honk. I dont know if the fuse right away or maybe it blew when i came to a stop and press the brake, since the vsa light had remained on i guess the vsa system was still getting current also.

Solution: Disconnect battery, wait 30 minutes, remove airbag, check that the horn connector is connected properly, re-assemble, re-connect battery & test
Alternately you can check the horn relay to see if somehow it managed to fuse itself together.

had the same problem
Hey i have had the same problem with blowing the fuse. I diagnosed my problem do to the lower horn shorting out. If i honk quickly it did not blow the fuse. But if i held it for about 5 sec it would blow. I unpluged the lower horn. And repeated. Problem was solved.

Short in lower horn 55 from OEM Acura Parts.com, 80 from the dealer as I didn't want to wait for it. around 200 installed and diag (Lindsay Acura Cols, OH great guys and cheap shop rate for a dealer)

My fuse blows as soon as I honk everytime! I went through a whole box of new fuses to figure out that it would blow. Now before I go and spend loads of money at the dealership, do any of you know what might be the problem? Keep in mind it's a 2005 TL . Any tips or info helps thanks !
