Brake Cleaner Safe for Rubbers?

I recalled that I did spray some brake cleaner on the paper towel and wiped the inside of the caliper to clean it.

The question is,

is brake cleaner safe for those piston rubbers for the calipers

Yes, it's safe to use on most rubber products.

And the rubber compounds used on brake components are pretty high grade. Resistant to quite a bit of nasty things I'd suspect, especially considering what they're exposed to on a daily basis (heat, chemicals, road derbis, etc.)

Good to know, thanks guys!

BTW, do you guys normally use the caliper grease for the piston rubber?

I saw it in the DIY section but some people also say it attracts dusts and might not be a good idea

misleading title is misleading.

Use brake fluid as lubricant on rubber seals when installing piston. Be careful using paper towels as lint can contaminate the parts.

LoL. True. I just figured he might want to clean them and use em again. What better to use than brake cleaner. :ugh:

Has nothing to do with brakes. Don't mean to thread jack.

But is it okay to use a brake cleaner on the rear exhaust tips on the TL. When I got my TL cleaned on the inside by a mobile detailer, I asked about the exhaust tips being really dirty so is there anything I can buy something at a store to clean them.

He said you can use brake cleaner, But you have to quickly wipe off once sprayed since it breaks down the gunk really fast and can damage the tips finish. ??

Its like another $65 bucks to do a thorough exterior cleaning etc. tips, tires, engine bay, chrome wheels and wheel well cleaning. I didnt want to pay an additional cost for all this extra service when I already do it on my own. MINUS the tips.

Bar Keepers friend took too long when I first tried it and didnt like the results, want something a bit faster than breaks down all that stuff inside the tips.
